I'm not sure I get it with Surman. Pretty much every post that mentions his name seems to put him in the same league as, say, Bridge or Bale.

I accept he's a fan, but that doesn't make him a player. Unless I'm missing something he had a truly dreadful season last year. We know he's not quick, but for most of last season he seemed to blame everyone else for every (too many) mis-placed pass, and it was like pushing on an open door for any team coming down our left flank.

Would we be that bothered if a decent offer came in given the current circumstances.

As with Bridge, if we an get more than he is actually worth, it may be a no-brainer to let him go.

Hi Graham. I trust that I am included in the few that make the occasional intelligent comment. Martin should realise that he appears to have 'tunnel vision' as far as football is concerned. Although a Pompey fan, I take an interest in other clubs, especially Hampshire ones (and ex-Hampshire eg Bournemouth). There would be no football if there were no opposition to play agains, so naturally, I take an interest. Like you, I find the negative comments from Saints supporters about SFC and the occasional Pompey fan who is all 'doom and glook'. Depression may not be an infectious disease, but it is catching! I hope the new lad performs well, for two reasons. 1. It should improve your league position next season and 2. If he is sold, then your club should make a profit, AND HOPEFULLY USE THE MONEY WISELY. All the best for next season. I'll be watching (from afar)!

To the best of my knowledge, there are no plans to close any stands at Fratton Park for the coming season. If Fratton Park had the same capacity that St Mary's Stadium does, then you can rest assured that attendances would equal, or even better than Saints managed during their spell in the Premier League. When there were terraces, Pompey's highest gate was 51,000+ and the population is larger now, and travel is easier. With regard your claim that Pompey fans are now going to watch Havant & Waterlooville, I guess that many of them do - when Pompey are playing away. They switch from Hampshire's No1 team to Hampshire's No2 team. According to recent posts on here, a number of Saints customers are intending to watch Eastleigh.

Martin, That is SOOO... interesting isn't it. We do get some useful and intelligent comments from a few Pompey boys along with the moronic rubbish and even with those it seems so odd that they should bother. They quite rightly point out that this is a "Southern Echo" and not a "Saints" site and we all believe in free speech. I must say that the negative comments from Saints (?) supporters is much more depressing, for me at least, than the nonsense from down the road.

Hi Graham. I trust that I am included in the few that make the occasional intelligent comment.
Martin should realise that he appears to have 'tunnel vision' as far as football is concerned. Although a Pompey fan, I take an interest in other clubs, especially Hampshire ones (and ex-Hampshire eg Bournemouth).
There would be no football if there were no opposition to play agains, so naturally, I take an interest.
Like you, I find the negative comments from Saints supporters about SFC and the occasional Pompey fan who is all 'doom and glook'. Depression may not be an infectious disease, but it is catching!
I hope the new lad performs well, for two reasons.
1. It should improve your league position next season and
2. If he is sold, then your club should make a profit, AND HOPEFULLY USE THE MONEY WISELY.
