Mark Alleyne, the man who captained Gloucestershire to unprecedented one-day success, has joined the list of contenders to replace Paul Terry as Hampshire’s manager.
Alleyne is looking for another coaching job after leaving Gloucestershire by mutual consent in February.
The 40-year-old put himself in the frame to replace Alan Butcher at Surrey and is also understood to have met Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove about the vacant manager’s position at the Rose Bowl.
As Gloucestershire captain, Alleyne led the county to a historic one-day treble in partnership with director of cricket John Bracewell in 2000.
