IN April 2006, during a home match against Millwall, a plane carrying the banner “Time to go, Rupert Lowe”

flew over St Mary’s.

Nearly three years on, Saints fan Karl Swanborough is planning a repeat of that scene.

The 25-year-old has set up a group on social networking site Facebook, encouraging people to help him realise the idea.

The initial fly by was organised by a band of fans, called Season Ticket Holders United.

Swanborough has contacted the same company that performed the stunt and has been given a quote of about £750 for it to be repeated.

Although the exact message is yet to be confirmed, Swanborough expects it to be something similar to the initial one.

If he can gain enough support in time, he would like it to happen during the next home match, against Swansea, on Saturday, January 31.

However, his more realistic target is the clash with Preston on February 21.

The group currently has over 100 members. Swanborough plans on asking each for a donation and hopes he will get enough to make it no more than a few pounds.

“If I get 700 members, it’s only a pound each,” he said.

“Everyone talks about removing themselves from games, or not going, but people like myself that are season ticket holders aren’t going to miss a game purposely.

“For me, I can’t sit at home knowing a game’s going on down there.

“I’ve only missed four home matches in 14 years and I would never abandon a game.”
