Southampton FC look set to appoint a British head coach

Mark Wotte Mark Wotte

SAINTS would almost certainly look to appoint a British manager as soon as possible if Pinnacle’s takeover of the club is completed.

The Matt Le Tissier-endorsed Pinnacle’s 21-day period of exclusivity to complete their takeover expires in two days time.

If that is completed, the search for the club’s 15th manager, or head coach, in as many years will intensify.

Le Tissier has already met current head coach Mark Wotte a few times – their last meeting was two days ago – to talk about Saints’ future.

The Dutchman has not been specifically told yet if his services will be required in 2009/10.

Full story in today's Daily Echo

British Manager? Well not being xenophobic about it but as long as he's not Scottish, Welsh or Irish then!
PS before the PC brigade get on my case this is very tongue in cheek - I think!

Newsflash: "It is almost certain that Saints will play Brighton in the first game of the season. However there is nothing definite to confirm that Saints will be playing Brighton first game of the season. They definitely could be playing them first game of the season, but if they don't then they will definitely end up playing them at some point during the season, if not in the first game, which it could be."

aka - pointless waffle

Two days to go why oh why is it taking so long?? lets get it over with get the team we need to get us back to were we belong.

Le God needs to get his boots on or his running shoes

Fixtures out today does this now mean we have another -7 points putting us on -17 at the start of the season just like Leeds??

Linesman says...

"The Saints WOULD ALMOST CERTAINLY look to appoint a British manager as soon as possible IF Pinnacle's takeover of the club is completed."

Well, that looks pretty definite doesn't it!

Bung in a couple of maybes, add a few possiblys and a quite likely and then it is all signed, sealed and delivered!

HOLD THE FRONT PAGE!

There are no points deductions for being in admin when the fixtures come out.

The next possible points deduction will come if Saints can't agree a CVA with the Football League/Inland Revenue, but if this takeover happens, that's not an issue.

The problem is that SMS is public right of way to the underpass & bridge by the railway. The reporters & paps can sit in their cars waiting but as it is also private property they are not allowed to take photos or film without permission. The car reg spelt STELLAR as in the STELLAR group of sports representation. Might be the low profile, mystery money behind Pinnacle?
Don't lambast me if I'm wrong, just reporting what happens.

It seems to me that anyone with any self respect would demand a definite statement on ones future. Thats suggests to me that Wotte's future has been determined and either he is working out his notice or he has been given a post should the Pinnacle Groups bid be made.
Personally as with all things pertinent to Saints it will be dragged out to the last minute and beyond. My only hope is that Le Tissier's influence in football matters might have an impact

One of Manchesters finest players may have gone for a walk this morning but we are not sure if it was to the phone box to call St Marys.

Did Mark Wotte leave some of his breakfast or was that just the pattern on the plate.

An Echo reporter seen straining to remove his posterior from his office chair this morning. Sources not involved with the news desk however confirm that it did not happen.
