Pinnacle deal to buy Saints moves a step closer

MATT LE TISSIER MATT LE TISSIER

Pinnacle have moved a step closer to completing their takeover of Saints after lodging the names of their prospective new board with the Football League.

All new directors of a football club must undergo the League’s so called ‘fit and proper’ test and be approved in order to sit on the board.

Though the names remain a closely guarded secret, the Daily Echo can confirm they have been received by the League for their approval.

It is understood that Tony Lynam, the Pinnacle boss who has spearheaded negotiations, and Matt Le Tissier are on the list.

Lynam has been working into the evening at St Mary’s on several occasions this week to try and ensure everything is ready for a deal for the club to be completed by the end of their exclusivity period tomorrow.

As well as issuing the list of prospective new directors to the Football League and awaiting their response, there have been various legal complexities involved in the deal that have required work to iron out.

If all goes well, it is hoped that a formal announcement, which will include the name of the mystery backer behind the deal, will be confirmed in a statement tomorrow.

Tomorrow's the day then?
I really hope so for all the staff and out of contract players - and we can get on with the business of moving up the league(s).
So tomorrow really could the dawning of a new era...let's hope so!
Still getting to grips with Hartlepool on Tuesday night in the winter...still it's only just over an hour for me...home for midnight!

Has this been the longest 3 weeks of my life or what? Can't wait for tomorrows press conference. Think WGS will be back in, have heard that Wotte has already got another Job. I do feel a little sorry for him as he hasn't done a lot wrong and he talks a good game. But i think a clean sweep is needed. COYR

It's a pity there isn't fit and proper test for local journalists, because if so I'm sure Leitch and some of his colleagues would struggle.

I'm still laughing at his unfettered support for last seasons shambles and his responses when we had a chance for some live chat with him.

I can't believe any other local behaviour would have supported the last regime the way Leitch and the Echo did.

I am very dissappointed that for the first time ever, The Southern Evening Echo has not referred to MLT as 'Saints Legend Matthew Le Tissier'. Lets save that for tomorrow when the deal is done, Matty will truly be a legend, especially when he brings in Gordon Strachan as manager.

Hoping for a completion to the saga tomorrow as the 21 days is then up as I understand and it all should be sorted one way or another. It has to be a happy conclusion please!! Looking foreward to seeing saints play football ounce again without all the backroom termoil that has been with the club for so long. To the new or prospective owners just send out the renewall reminders to the season ticket holders asap and see what response you get Iam sure it will be very rewarding. TODAY AND TOMORROW please pass quickly

So as i understand - once this takeover is done, the bank and Norwich Union will not be owed anything, so we will still have all our assets, a new money man and no debt which was crippling us. Correct me if i am mistaken.

Style or substance? I'll take substance any day. I have some bubbly in the fridge ready for tomorrow and the toast will be "The one and only, the great Matty saviour of our wonderful football club. May all the squabbling now cease and every one who says they are a saint get behind the club."

Whoever is buying the club is putting in a lot of money all we need to do now is add is our support by attending games.

I am going to set up a hall of shame for those WUMs and idiots who will come on here saying they wont be attending or they wont be buying a season ticket. Their names of shame will go alongside those of all the Lowe luvvies.

This is the dawning of a new age for SFC and we should all be partying in the street.

Isn't it just wonderful no more Rupert Lowe or Guy Askham ever. God bless you Matty.

Put me down on the list as buying a season ticket

So long sad times
Go long bad times
We are rid of you at last

Howdy gay times ( MAYBE NOT TO MUCH OF THAT )
Cloudy gray times
You are now a thing of the past

Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So let's sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again

Altogether shout it now
There's no one
Who can doubt it now
So let's tell the world about it now
Happy days are here again

Your cares and troubles are gone
There'll be no more from now on
From now on ...

Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So, Let's sing a song of cheer again

Happy times
Happy nights
Happy days
Are here again!

No new news here, just the usual Echo rehash of old news and guess work. For "It is understood that.." read "we're guessing that..."! Roll on tomorrow so that hopefully we'll all know what's REALLY happening.

Bigrich...I woudlnt like to believe it until it actually happens.

Worst case Pinicle are poor and buy the club with credit that has only been underwritten buy the "money's" £100m+ fortune.

I will just be glad when the deal is done so i can finally go to the loo!

I dont think KK has anything to prove and cant see a 'big' club really coming in for him due to his previous antics, I think this would probably be the best time to get him, he got Newcastle and Fulham out of the same situation we find ourselves in. I would forgive him for taking us to the prem then leaving for a big club.

I have to laugh. The number of times pople come on here posting along the lines of "here we go another echo non story, rehashing thigns we already know", withour realising the irony that there posts are also non posts, with nothing to say, just rehashing what we already know".

If we can get the board, the manger , the players and the fans all working together this club will be worthy of our support again. I just wish the lid would come off so we can all cheer and rejoice.
