A HOST of celebrities from the sailing world are preparing to do battle in a high-profile charity race around the Isle of Wight.
Seven top-flight sailors will go head to head in state-of-the-art Open 60 yachts in this year’s Artemis Challenge, one of the highlights of Cowes Week.
Hampshire sailing star Dee Caffari will be joined by up-and-coming Southampton skipper Simon Clay and a host of names from the solo sailing world including Seb Josse, Arnaud Boissieres, Vincent Riou, Unai Basurko and Steve White.
The skippers will blast round the Island in pursuit of a £10,000 prize fund, donated to the winning skipper’s charity of choice.
The 50-mile race will also feature some well-known faces from television and sport.
Spin-doctor Alistair Campbell, TV presenter Davina McCall and England rugby player James Haskell featured in last year’s race. This year’s event will take place on August 5.
