Murty wants to make Millwall suffer

GRAEME Murty wants Saints to show Millwall plenty of aggression today, in a bid to make St Mary’s a horrible place for opponents to visit.

The 34-year-old right back, who signed a one-year deal at the club on Tuesday night, is set to make his competitive debut for Saints this afternoon.

The former Reading captain is expecting a tough test against last season’s beaten League One play-off finalists.

But he has urged his teammates to show a bit of grit and lay down a marker for visiting sides this campaign.

“They’re high-tempo, aggressive and obviously very good,” Murty said of Millwall. “They got to the playoff final last year and will feel a little bit aggrieved (to have lost).

“They’ll want to start with a good performance here, at a big, big club.

“So it’s down to us to match everything they do and maybe even go above it.”

Millwall have a defensive crisis apparently.

So this game represents a great chance to move just 7 points behind one of the favourites for automatic promotion.

Let's do it!

Perhaps another Thomson wonder goal in the last minute to win it?

I like your way of thinking...I haven't heard a more positive reaction to the minus 10 points situation. You're dead right if we do win on Saturday we will only be 7 points behind a highly fancied promotion team. Who knows, if we sort things out and maybe get a few new signings over the next few months we may even beat them again in their own back yard and then be only 4 points behind them. COYR!!!

Murty's attitude is exactly what we need; a bit of fight in the team rather than allowing ourselves to be rolled over. Hopefully its catching, especially with the young'uns.

The Only Crisis Millwall are going to have at the end of today is there won't be enough Amubulances to ferry the fans back to the Bog Marsh where they belong :D

As positive as ever Mike,

The fight is there is just needs bringing out, Davis, Perry,Murty, Thomas, Harding, have got the fight there Gillett, Wotton, have it in them to battle for everyball ,
Fish Mills and Schneiderlin will have learned alot from year, that just Sagonowski wanting to bang a few in, (so he will get sold) Paterson did well last season (when required) that just leave my old favourite Lallana, well enough said on him.

A new boss to impress, 15,000 crowd (fingers crossed) giving it some vocals.

Break the sky jinx at the first attempt, (there only down here because we are Saints once of the premier and they like to see get stuffed)

7 points behind the title 2nd favourites, all bodes well for a cracking game this afternoon, if it don't happen like that groan and be negative after, but until then, keep the faith.

my point exactly, as i said yesterday i dont expect to much for the first two to three games, if we get results bonus if not it will come good its a long season and there will only be 8 teams challenging for the top spots, lets hope for mid table by xmas then strengthen in january, hav'nt felt like this since the first game at sms, COYR

Same here,

My Mrs is moaning already, wondering why I'm up and buzzing like the proverbial, I ain't looked forward to a new season in years, maybe it because of the 10 points, but I can't to get going today, it's been a hellish summer, until ML took over.

Hope we win, and league one has never seen so many other teams draw.

This is Lallana's day, he will turn on the style and score early on.

Football is a low scoring game therefore if you don't concede goals the probability of you winning is greatly increased. This is why AP has focused on our defence.

I am really up for today and full of optimism. It is a great time to be a Saints fan.

Finally ignore the negative postings on here. They are all posted by depressed skates who know their club is going down the pan.

Also note that the worst of them does not usually appear until late in the day as most of them live in homes where no one has ever had to get up for work in the morning.
