SAINTS teenager Oscar Gobern is set to join League One rivals MK Dons on loan for a month.

Saints boss Alan Pardew has made no secret of his desire to reduce the size of his squad by loaning out some of the youngsters who find themselves on the fringes of his first-team set-up.

And 18 year-old Gobern, who recently made his England Under 19 debut, is the first one to temporarily leave St Mary's, and will be aiming to get more regular first team football at MK Dons.

There he will link up with his older brother, winger Lewis, who signed for Paul Ince's side after being released in the summer by Wolves.

Birmingham-born left-footer, Gobern junior, broke into the first-team set up aged 17 at the start of last season after catching the eye in pre-season.

He made an immediate impact on his competitive debut for the club, playing a starring role in Saints’ dramatic 3-2 win against Preston last in November.

He went onto make a further six appearances for Saints last term and has made three substitute appearances this season under Alan Pardew.
