Bartosz Bialkowski up to the job, says Kelvin Davis

KELVIN Davis believes Bartosz Bialkowski will prove to be a very safe pair of hands in goal while he is out injured.

Club captain Davis is set to be missing through the Christmas period, after picking up a groin problem in Tuesday’s 3-1 win at Hartlepool.

That means Bialkowski will don the gloves for the next few important weeks.

With at least seven games in December, as well as this weekend’s FA Cup second round trip to Northampton, it is a hectic period for Saints.

It is also one that will go a long way to shaping the rest of their season.

Davis, who will have a scan on Monday to determine the extent of his injury, has no doubt Bialkowski will do everyone proud.

Meanwhile, good luck to Barts. He's waited patiently and deserves a run.

Looking forward to Sixfields day out tomorrow...

Good to see Stern John has made the right decision. So pleased it is all working out for him lol
Ipswich have signed striker Stern John on a month's loan from Championship rivals Crystal Palace.
The 33-year-old Trinidad & Tobago international is available to face Cardiff on Sunday and will stay with Town until 29 December.
John has made seven appearances for the Eagles in a campaign disrupted by a dislocated elbow which sidelined him for three months.
He has won 96 Trinidad caps and joined Palace from Southampton in July.

BWP has managed to total the amazing amount of 2 appearance for plymouth this season.

Surman has played 3 times this season for wolves

McGoldrick has played 15 times and scored 2 goals. All in all looks like some good selling by saints. LOL

To be honest though, i think i would happily have surman back, he was saints through and through, the other two can go jump.

I'm Saints through and through too but I wouldn't play me either.

Just because Drew was a fan, it didn't stop him being slow, lazy, not interested in defending from the front, and a bit wayward with a lot of his passing.

If you're going to be like that 80 per cent of the time then you have to be absolutely brilliant the other 20 per cent (think MLT) not just better than average.

Drew's form went south after he got picked for the U21s. Hopefully, he can regain some of his early promise, but I wouldn't even drop Wotton to have Surman in the team now.

As far as the main story goes, I really hope Bart lives up to the form he showed a couple of seasons back when he had a bit of a run. That may make it tough for KD to win his place back, but we know they'll both be trying their hardest to keep those scoresheets to nil.

Surman reminds me too much of David Prutton in that he offered so much promise at under 21 level but then went completely off the radar! Surman lacks pace and is an almost identical player to Lloyd James. Midfielders with no pace who get played at full back positions...in short we don't need Surman now we have Mills, Gobern, McGlaggon, Mellis, Waigo, Lallana...the list goes on.

As for Bart...I am looking forward to him having a run...I hope the defense infront of him stays strong. Bart's distribution is brilliant so he will help get the team attacking with his long throws and accurate kicking. He's very cool and calm in the box as well so we might actually get a clean sheet!!

Sainty saint saint, Southampton says...

Was relatively impressed with Bart in the Charlton game - his distribution was very good, and he seemed to command his box better than Davis.

The test will come with shot-stopping in high-intensity games, but as some have said, he seems to be a cool, collected kinda guy!

Agreed, I remember watching him in the Newcastle cup game a few seasons back, he was fantastic and was very unlucky, a real shame he got the injury... he also played well in the upcoming games to the playoff finals, but Davis was preferred in the end... if Bialkowski was a strong keeper then, and was capable of consistant performances, with the experience he would have got from training and learning from Davis... he will have got even better. We have some great future prospects at our club, the likes of Lallana, Trotman (hope we keep him), and of course Bart... its great to see that our club has a solid future.

It's good to have cover that inspires some confidence !! Best of luck Bart, take your chance while you can.

Full credit for Kelvin for being supportive - after all it's his job that's at stake.

A key point emerging from all of these posts is Barts faster distribution abilities. With the style of players we have up front it is a big advantage if we can get the ball to them quickly when an opposition attack breaks down.

It will be interesting to see how this impacts our scoring profile. We could do with NOT going a goal behind and coming back later in the game and we couod also do with NOT letting in late goals - even when we win. This is a tight league and goal difference will be important.

Ref mistress ploopy
my password is just and fair. So I shall be that.
We had a rather special guy play for us in those days called Le Tissier.
Looked at your site yesterday, hasten to add never been on it.
Noticed half your fans were having palpatations about Grant.
Actually the way he plays may just get you out of it. There are so many teams playing pooh at the bottom.
I just think financially you are in stuck and any finance it seems is loans, which could finish your club off, if the threat of relegation doesn't.

Back to Saints.
It will be nice to see the Bartman get a game. preferably under different circumstances.
Yet he is in goal for the most crucial 7 plus games of the season. If he doesn't meet expectations the season could be over. Though I have faith he will.
As for those players that have gone. I would like to see Surman back, he didn't have the best season last time out. Didn't exactly have the players we have now round him though. The situation was hard and depressing all the way round. I just guess I am loathe to see a true Saint left out of the fold. I think you would see him at his best here now. he may not be having the best time at Wolves but home is where your heart is.
Ask Channon who couldn't wait to get back from Man City to join Saints. Ask Le Tiss who would not leave.

Bart has waited a long time for this chance, I hope he plays well. I think comments about Surman not coming back are a bit harsh, but I accept that in league Div 1 he would struggle.
What happened to Andrew Davies at Stoke, I can't see him on their squad list or on Sky's squad list, has he gone elsewhere?

Like the rest, I wish Bart well when he plays, but even more, I hope he has VERY little to do.
Northampton will be hoping to turn us over in their own back yard, so I hope we are at them from the first whistle, and don't give them a sniff of the ball and quieten their fans from the off.
They have a decent home record but concede afraction over 1 goal per game there, so don't seem too tight at the back.
For over confident fans, don't forget what happened to Charlton in round 1. We need to earn the right to play our football, tomorrow, and that means taking them seriously and not getting caught out as we did with Brighton.

I'm loving my coffee this cloudy Saturday morning in NZ... had a good read around the sites... huge belief in the win against N'hants. no more announcements or news from the loan window as it closed (Pards confirmed no more). Forecast back. Saga is injured.

The World is our Saintly Oyster.
Guess talk about players in and out should be kept fun because that is really all it is.

My guess is that Pards as officer in charge of production can within reason go to the Chairman and ask for anyone he wants so long as he can provide a case that the money spent will bring results.

We can't ask for better than that. There's no restriction on Pards he now has a top scouting network out there working for him.

First job is to reduce the current pay packet, we've been warned of that.. We know Saga will go. Morgan for decent money. We may take the money and say goodbye. He'll grace a prem reserve side for a while... maybe Chelsea with a word from Mellis who will return.
Lee Holmes still warming the bench, why. Does he figure in the bosses plan or not? The guy still get games for the res's and watching him.. I like what little I've seen... would like him to play a game for the firsts.
James will stay, Mills I'm not sure of but I think so.

The boss has said on the web site that Adam and Davie are struggling and it's time to allow the new guys who have just come in to have a run and show what they can do and he says not the guys that have been there a while like Perry and Wotton he emphasises new guys!!
Mellis (cup tied) and Trots (Suspended) are out.

How new we are prepared to try:
This is the extreme change and is unlikely madness but I wouldn't put it past Pards after excellent performances by some against Bristol City res)

Bart
Murty Thomo Martin Molyneux
Preen Gobern Hamma(c) Mills
Papa Lambert

Subs: Lambert Jaidi Harding Argent Ants Holmes Forecast

If Holmes doesn't get a run I think he'll be gone at Xmas along with Mills to make way for a pacey left winger so Adam can move in the middle (would love one of those online streaming chat sessions with Pards so we can tap his thoughts on the window.) Every time a so called (no disrespect) lesser team comes along the mind drools with possible combinations to try... it's fun for us but must be a nightmare for managers who suffer the wrath if it all goes sour.

I just love Pards: We have to get our heads around this statement he made to the Saints site:

"I do think there are goals in the team," he added. "We just have players who are desperate to do well for the Club, and that includes goal scoring. I set up my teams to go and attack other teams, which does give you the occasional disaster defensively, but we are good enough to cope with that."

That is our core philosophy at present.. I for just one had started to get heavy on the goal leaking and errors at the back but reading this changed my mind and bolster faith.

We should get behind it and enjoy it.. have fun at games and enjoy the season.. with Pards looking for goals we are hungry and looking to be fed... Feeed us Master Pards.

COYR

geesh I talk some bs sometimes haha but it's all in fun.. I have no idea who Pards will really play haha

Do we know the duration of Donnelly's trial and whether he could be cleared to play a game. No news around that I could find.

Fans having troubles recently with the player over riding the echo thread during games: I've upgraded to the Beta v4 of Google Chrome browser, enabled extensions and installed flashblock. (google how for easy instructions) It's brilliant and will only let flash stream went you allow it. Easy solution and it works a treat...saving heaps of bandwidth too.
