Saints are through to the area final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy after a 6-5 penalty shootout win against Norwich at St Mary's.

Papa Waigo scored twice, the second an equaliser deep into stoppage time, to take the game to penalties.

Bartosz Bialkowski made three penalty saves in the shootout to book his side a place in the two-legged area final where they will face MK Dons for a place at Wembley.

90: Saints goal. At the end of three minutes of injury time Waigo scores for 2-2 and penalties loom.

55: Norwich goal. Norwich’s Grant Holt gets through, Bartosz Bialkowski may have fouled him in the area but fails to hold on to the ball anyway and Chris Martin gratefully makes no mistake to score. 1-2.

33: Norwich goal. Simon Lappin’s free kick from the right is won twice in the air by Norwich and falls to Gary Doherty on the edge of the six yard box and he smashes the ball home. 1-1.

28: Both sides have a chance in the space of a minute. Jacob Mellis’ shot for Saints rounds off a terrific passing move but it’s straight at the keeper. Straight up the other end Bartosz Bialkowski makes his first save diving full length to his right to stop Tom Adeyemi’s effort on the turn.

14: Saints goal. Lloyd James’ ball to Papa Waigo allows him to use his pace to cut in from the left and one-on-one he gets past the keeper to slide home. 1-0.
