Bristol Rovers’ director of football Lennie Lawrence says he has not received any “concrete offer” from Saints for midfield Chris Lines.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a January move to St Mary’s with his contract set to expire in the summer.
And speculation has intensified after Alan Pardew revealed Saints have made initial offers for two players.
But Lawrence insists Rovers are still hopeful of tying up an extended contract for Lines to stay with Rovers and that his club haven’t received firm offers for him yet.
Full story in today’s Southern Daily Echo.

I wish pardew would hurry up.we cannot go into saturday with that shambles of a team that turned up against luton.he has had months to sort out new players and get some deals sorted.i hope we dont sign lines,i was kind of hoping our ambition would be higher than this.get freddy eastwood.simeon jackson would also be great.

Why bother to make such ill informed comments. San Diego suits you. You don't support the Saints you make needless aggressive comments. Go away and play somewhere else.

Antonio was a loan signing, and who else would fit in better on the right wing and have that pace? he ran defenders ragged, Trotman is a solid defender on his day, and put in some decent performances, though admittedly, both of them have theyre off days. Also, you didnt mention Hammond? is he terrible as well?. Think before you make mindless insults, just because someone has a differing view to you, it doesnt make them a muppet.

Also don't expect new signings to come in and make an instant difference, it will take time to meld them in, another attack on Waigo and Antonio? Makes me a bit suspicious that it is the same person with a different title, these players can be good impact subs. not sure that they should start. I am hoping AP can do the business, but I am getting a bit impatient at the lack of news or progress. No doubt the deals are being held up by agents trying to takes us for ransom.

The true Saints fans on this site are the ones who are patiently waiting for some more excellent signings, and as the window has just opened know that these things can be protracted, but if we get a couple more gems then it will be worth the wait. The gobby newbies that have recently sprung up on here are either skates on a wum trying to get a sniff of what being a financialy sound team is all about and all they can do is be disparaging and illiterate as possible, or we have the dregs who usually post on the B-anter web site which basically means you dont possess a brain cell and need psychiatric help. Looking forward to the signings but its nice to have the respect and patience required to wait.

It's beyond belief isn't it. We were looking down the end of a barrel back in June, now we have hope, are one of the few teams that will buy in this window, and we have people on this site whinging because A.P hasn't bought 11 new players within 5 days of the window opening. As far as I am awhere, the transfer window is where all negotiations have to be made. I don't think you can talk to agents, clubs and players before it opens. So it is virtually impossible to sign players on day one. Agents will also know that Saints have money, so they will hold out for the best deal for their client. So don't expect to many signing before the window moves into its second half. Looking at where some, or at least one of the whingers on here lives, I question how they know whether Antonio or Waigo are any good or not. Trottman was awsome against Exeter, easily man of the match, and Waigo runs and chases all over the pitch. He also chips in with goals. How many premiership teams have made signings so far this window, none I think. So get a grip, come feb 1st we will all be singing a happy tune

Now what sort of low life would do that, hmmm let me think who are hate filled, hate our progression and fantastic manager and squad, and truly hate all the decent people on here, tricky one that!!
The exchange of views on this web site is always good to follow except when Saints fans start slagging each other off, notwithstanding the 'freedom of speech' argument. Anybody slagging off the club, its players, management and other personnel is not, in my opinion, a worthy Saints fan.
Pards is paid a lot of money to make the right calls when it comes to signing or releasing players. We fans are entitled to our views and it's good to express them in a positive and sensible manner. It shows our love and passion for the Saints.
The club has a difficult balancing act when deciding who to sign. We want to sign players (remember they want at least 2, probably 3 year contracts) who will be good enough for the Championship next season or the one after; otherwise you are stuck with players who are not up to the task at the higher level but won't get a better wage anywhere else. However, Championship quality players will be naturally hesitant to play for a L1 club unless they are really confident we can get promotion soon.
Trust in Pards, and in Markus and Nicola. They want success as much as we do. They are trying to build a successful club in a proper businesslike manner. That means not splashing out good money to buy instant and fragile success.
We Saints fans must not forget that we nearly lost our club only 6 months ago.
Let's be patient, and grateful, and nice to each other. COYR

Sopping coffee on a summery morning in NZ heading for 24c today.
This time at Saints has been much anticipated. Lots of us have shared posting in here from all over the world and the local fans have brought us that bit closer to home and closer to Saints. I'm enjoying this season immensely as only six months ago we honestly didn't think we'd have a team.
At the start half way would have been a great result for the end of the season. Hey but as we have reached half way and are half way up we do have a real chance to go for it.
If ever there were an excuse and a time to extend the budget it is now. We have the results but are suffering metal fatigue in the muscle department and need some help to make the most of the push on up.
We can probably make the play offs with the current squad but certainly need top notch recruits to take that 3rd spot to gain promotion this year.
Anyone who honestly thinks the owner and the management team aren't working tirelessly towards this at the moment must be out of their minds.
Readers here should realise that since the purchase of The Club one or two people use a few different user names to slag the owners and management. They offer nothing constructive. One admitted he's one of the so called fans that have a right to stand in the Northam screaming obscene abuse at our players and loudly boos what he says is poor performance. Personally I wish people like that would leave the club. I would honestly rather host honest enemy fans here than slaggers within.
Ignore them as much as possible, don't for goodness sake quote them one line retorts maybe and if you feel they are abusive report them.
This is my last full post regarding the slaggers within. Best to just let them show themselves up.

Thanks for your address, though I really doubt even you are that stoopid(then again I could be wrong again). If not, then (A) you are very brave on here but have absolutely no bottle and evryone can see that, and (B) cracks really are starting to appear in your pathetic attempt to wum, losing it skate time to come back under a different pseudonym and try again doh!!Tye-Dye wrote:what a dickhead! your more than welcome to come to cornwall, 43 furze hill, bodmin cornwall, any time you like!south west saint wrote:Time for a meet little man, if you got the mouth be prepared to need to back it up and now a nasty man wants to meet you. Oh, next time you try and be clever and a cyber warrior here's a tip, use spell checker, you really need to, GET REALLY REAL.Tye-Dye wrote: The true Saints fans on this site are the ones who are patiently waiting for some more excellent signings, and as the window has just opened know that these things can be protracted, but if we get a couple more gems then it will be worth the wait. Looking forward to the signings but its nice to have the respect and patience required to wait.its muppets like you that are happy to move along at a snails pace and say `never mind be patiant we`ll be in the championship in 5 yrs time`,and you always say you must be a skate because people dont agree with your opinion! GET REAL.
