White returns to Saints and is aiming to impress

STRIKER Jamie White is on his way back to Saints after a three month loan with Blue Square South promotion hopefuls Eastleigh.

Ex-Saint Ian Baird, manager of the non-League side, had been keen to keep the 20-year-old for the rest of the campaign.

But after two injury-wrecked seasons, Harefield-based White wants to show Saints boss Alan Pardew what he is capable of before his contract runs out in July.

“It’s a weird one really,” said Baird.

“I said to Jamie that I would like to keep him at Eastleigh, but after three months we can’t loan him month-to-month any more and we would have to take him until the end of the season.

“Jamie’s taken advice off his agent and he wants to give himself every chance of impressing the new manager (Pardew) and I don’t blame him for that.

“He’s been out injured for a long time and he wants to give it a bit of a crack there.”

Sadly I don't think he'll make the grade at Saints, but wish him every success elsewhere if released in July.

Good lad Jamie...lets hope you can get back to your best before your injuries. It's going to be tough to break into the Saints team but White could add value to the squad if AP sees something he likes. When fit he's a similar player to Lallana but doesn't quite have the height...but then neither does Hoolahan at Norwich and he's their best player by a long way.

maybe it's his agent's thought that Saints may find him a new deal somewhere other than blue square.
Good luck.

Morning Dan:) Don't know too much about White but certainly wish him well with his future. As posed above, it will be difficult for him to get into the Saints squad with new signings coming in this transfer period. Pericard looks to be a cert:(

The loan at Eastleigh was a bit of a waste of time in my opinion. 2 matches aside, he was restricted to cameo roles from the bench. If he had stayed at St.Marys from the outset I'm sure he would have had more opportunities to pop up on AP's radar via the ressies.

Jamie White or Poopycard JW is far better than that,Pardew said the market was deppressed well so will saints fans if you sign that skate.

I thought he was quite good in I'm A Celebrity but surely his best days as a player are behind him? I don't think he ever recovered from letting Hendry back to beat him in the 1992 world championship final.

Agree about White and fair play to him. Pericard looks to be on his way and Palace have distanced themselves so looks like us! Lambert played off a target man at Rovers. He picked up the bits and bobs that occurred and scored goals! It remains to be seen if Pericard is capable of creating bits and bobs! Maybe AP thinks this is another possible option. I like the thought of Rickie getting the ball, facing the goal about 25 yards out! The boy can shoot! I'm loving the gossip and rumours! Happy days indeed! COYR!

Pericard has been good for Carlisle apparently, and their fans have said they would be sorry to see him go. Apparently he has hoot a brilliant first touch, a powerful shot and is good at holding the ball up. Maybe League 1 is his domain. Let's not put him down until we see him in league 1, afterall pards has done well so far, we have reason to trust him.

As far as I can see, Pericard has spent a career to date letting an oversized ego get in the way of developing a career. He obviously has the potential, Juventus didn't grab him as a youngster for no reason, and he seemed to be suited to Div One with Pompey before having some horrendous injuries. Assuming jail has rubbed off some of the ego, and given him some focus, he might not be a disaster.

He might not score many, but Heskey doesn't score many either, but everyone seems to like playing next to him - maybe RL & DC will feel the same? Probably Pardew has discussed this with them.

Hell, remember that Saga only rally looked a good player next to Kenwyne Jones - maybe that's an alternative front line to give RL & Dc a rest from time to time?

Who knows - the point is that Pardew knows a lot more about football than me, and what he can get out of players, so if he wants to sign him then I'll happily give him the benefit of the doubt.

I'm not a great fan myself of Vincent Pericard, but you have to look at the scenario's on offer, Pericard will cost nothing and whilst Saint's desparately need some cover up front he can do a job, Saint's have money but I'm sure AP has other targets in mind that will cost money so sees this as perfect oportunity to give us another striking option without enhancing any of his transfer budget which he can use to cover for other targets. AP has been good so far in the transfer market and our owner will want Saint's and AP to get out of this division asap without spending millions to achieve it? Ultimately our money needs to be saved for Championship/Premier
ship football and I think it's another very shrewd move from AP. Everyone knows Saint's have money and maybe AP's targets have been overpriced and he's not willing to pay over-the-top money for them or AP's transfer targets are not available at present and he will bide his time.

Hello all, and a very Happy new year!!! 2010 here we go.

I'm so pleased that we are all having this discution, just think six months ago we would be biting the hand of any player that want's to ware the red and whites.

if he is good then great, but if not let him go, its always funny how many players want to impress the management when their contract is nearly up??? I only wish that they always want to impress all the time, because we are the one's who pay at the turnstiles to watch the flounder about on the pitch. What we got now is a fantastic blend of players who really want to play. I do however remember the loyalty of all who stayed with us when they wernt getting paid. its great being a football fan.

I do wonder about this fit and proper test that the FA set??? i mean Micheal fialka passed? and the arab two also passed? whats going on, I'm no skate lover but do feel pity for them. I hope they don't go bust because i'll miss our rivalry. come on jobless sort it out or thats what you'll be?

I think as we all have to pay a membership to be part of the FA, they should be held responsible for when clubs are in trouble. They were quick to give us a minus 10 when we were in admin, but yet to dish out any point deductions to a club who have failed to pay their staff 3 times in 4 months.

Lets dream of a fantastic 2010, COYR! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys,
I am a season ticket holder in the northam and am pleased with the new regime thus far.But.....call me a fantasist and slap me round the backside but i really believe we CAN make the play-offs.(you gotta keep believing right).but my concern is this.we need for sure a right back,a centre back and a striker as a matter of urgency as we are playing huddersfield this sat.Now i would of thought that pardew would of been looking around for the last 3 months and the very minute the window opened he would woft the cash around.i mean southend would snap your weak wrist off for 800,000 for barnard.I cannot see what the hold up is there. But either way ill be there on sat singing my arshavin off.saints till i die my hard rocking amigos.peace out.

That is a very valid point and I think everyone wants a new RB, CB and striker asap. One thing to keep in mind tho is Southend may well accept 800,000 but could be pushing for 900,000. On the flip side, based on their financial woes, AP may be trying his luck at 500,000. There will always be negotiations with every transfer as each side battles for the best deal. Unfortunately these things just aren't instant, it's not like buying a new TV from Curry's!

I do hope we get some signings soon, but I am happy to wait another week or so for the right player, rather than rush in and buy the first player that accepts a deal just because we have a match on Saturday. Don't forget our current bunch have been doing exceptionally well of late and have only lost at 2 hard fought away matches against arguably the 2 most in form teams of the league.
There is no reason why we can't beat Huddersfield with the current setup.

totally,i understand the whole negotiation with the clubs let alone what crazy wages the players demand.it would just be nice to get a few in for saturday not only to raise the game of our players but to get the terraces buzzing with anticipation, also it may put a few more thousand on the gate!.

Jamie White was one of the Academies brightest prospects but his progress has been hampered by injuries. He is a natural goalscorer and if he is given an opportunity to regain his form and confidence he just might save the club some money.
Rather a local lad with a passion for The Saints than a tired old "journeyman" like Pericard. He was such a dissapointment during Nigel's tenure that most people can't even remember seeing him play.

Got to admit Jamie was definitely one of the brightest prospects at the Academy. Along with Fish Mills, Matt Paterson and Jamie Hatch, we had a very decent side, with Whitey looking really good until his terrible injuries. Don't think he's been quite the same player since - not surprisingly they truly were horrendous injuries. I for one hope that he does enough to get another year at Saints and prove to AP just what a good player he is. I always saw him as a very similar player to Adam Lallana - with more goals in him!

If he does leave then I wish him every success in the future.
