SOUTHWOOD’S Chris Hudson described it as “a great honour” to have taken over as the Hampshire PGA captain.
The 34-year-old drove in to office at South Winchester Golf Club last week, following on from Romsey’s James Pitcher.
Hudson turned pro in 1999 and it has been a long-held goal of his to take over the captaincy of what he believes is the strongest county PGA in England.
“It’s a great honour to be asked first of all and to be actually stepping in now,” said Hudson, a former Hampshire County champion and Hants Alliance captain.
“It’s a form of respect from your fellow pros to nominate you and put you forward for it.
“Once I turned pro and became part of Hampshire, I wanted to eventually achieve becoming captain.
“So it’s a great honour for me to be asked.
“Hampshire has been my only county through my |amateur and professional days.
“From that aspect as well, it’s nice to be captain and to be recognised in that way.”
