Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final pub guide for Southampton fans

Saints fans' Wembley pub guide Saints fans' Wembley pub guide

THE Daily Echo is looking for Saints fans to help fellow supporters find Wembley pubs to enjoy a drink in on Sunday.

The map below consists of some random pubs we have found near Wembley - but we are hoping Southampton fans can use their knowledge to help each other.

If you know of any pubs that are not on the list but really should be - or pubs that either are no longer there or don't accept football fans, let us know and we'll update the map.

Ideally, the pubs should be within a mile of Wembley Stadium to make sure supporters can enjoy a pint without a long trek to the ground.

It is hoped this will provide fans with a handy, rough guide to finding a pint on Sunday.

If you want to make a suggestion, either leave a comment below or email dan.kerins@dailyecho.co.uk before 5pm on Friday.

Inclusion of a pub on this map does not constitute an endorsement by the Southern Daily Echo. The Daily Echo takes no responsibility for the accuracy of the information provided.

The green man pub apparently is the ideal pub for us and not to far from wembley. I found the pub on google under THE GREEN MAN PUB WEMBLEY and they have there own web site with a map and it is available on street view. Also it is in the area behind our end of the ground. Im going to wembley in a 16 group and thats where we are meeting other saints fans.

J. J. Moons in Wembley High Road is a huge Wetherspoon pub (however, probably more than a mile from the stadium, as I believe it's about a 15 or 20 minute walk).

The Green Man once featured in an episode of The Professionals. We stopped there for the ZDS game back in '92

Fullers Brewery in Chiswick, real ale (it's not for girls or lager drinkers).

Whilst I appreciate that you are both getting your Jollies off S.F.C and that your future jobs are dependant to a large extent on how successful the club is: You so dont own it and you are so not entitled to tell;or suggest to us that you know more than we do!!!

From comments elsewhere it seems as if 40,000 Saints are going to the Green Man, which could lead to long queues at the bar.
.
It is worth reading some of the comments on the "Beer in the Evening" web site about the other pubs, for example it says :-
(1) Mannions - A comment says "There is NO REAL ALE, just mass produced fizz ", so IMO it should be banned from calling itself a pub.
.
(2) The Greyhound - A comment says it is being "refurbished at the moment" (comment dated 20 March) so may not be open.
etc.

I live and work in Wembley so here is the lowdown.
.
NearWembley Central station:
.
Green Man all well and good but will be very busy and only works if it is dry as there is a very large beer garden and outdoor bar. Reports are it will rain so it will be tight squeeze. Also - that walk up the hill!!! Phew!!!
.
JJ Moons, like the High street it is on, is a very short walk from the stadium. Large enough.
.
Next to JJs is The Bear. Nice place. Standard sets of lagers etc
.
Near Wembley Park station:
.
Wembley Sports Bar. Small but perfectly formed.
.
The Crock of Gold - As above but Irish
.
The Torch. Best football pub in Wembley - Period! Landlord wasn't 100% sure which supporters he would have though when i bumped into him a couple of weeks back.
.
There are many other smaller bars around the high street (most are Irish) all are ok and given how many Saints fans will be around I expect the usual rules about pubs being divided along supporter lines may go out the window.

Oh and a few of the pubs on the map above are closed down. - Blarney stone has gone and The Galloway Hooker is a no go. It's still there - just rubbish.
.
Shan??? Never heard of that.
.
There was a shooting at the place Illingsworth has sorted a while back (It's a notorious spot)
.
Speakeasy, Mannions and Greyhound all much the same. Grayhound the biggest.
.
Still in walking distance near Preston Road station is The Preston. Great pub - large outside space.
.
I see The Bear isnt on the map. Its next to JJs.
.
So thats my advice. Whatever you do, drink before hand cos its £4 a pint inside the stadium!

Me and a few mates are going up in the morning (on the Saturday) and were staying at the Green Man, sounds like that's gonna be a very busy pup come Sunday, they are having a pre-match BBQ which (weather permitting) should be good.

It would be nice if both sets of fans could get on the beer together before the game. I've had some quality days on the lash with away fans who are enjoying the occasion too. Just a thought...
