IT WAS men against boys at Dean Court last night as AFC Totton romped to their first ever Hampshire FA Senior Cup triumph at the expense of a youthful Aldershot Town side.

The Stags’ landslide 4-0 win was achieved despite playing much of the second half with ten men after skipper James Taylor had been shown a straight red.

After Nathaniel Sherborne had headed the Stags in front, wing wizard Mike Gosney stole the show with a hat-trick to claim the man-of-the-match award.

Proud AFC Totton boss Stuart Ritchie reflected: “Young pros like them are schooled to keep the ball, but we’re strong and powerful and we pressed them. And when we did get the ball, we were very effective.

“Gosney was very direct and got at the fullback and Brett Williams was the same on the other side.

“For all their passing, they didn’t hurt us and they couldn’t deal with our forwards.”

Totton's Zamaretto South & West title rivals Windsor & Eton edged Bedfont Green 1-0 last night. The Stags -home to Taunton Town in their final league game tomorrow - are two points clear at the top, but Windsor have six points still to play for.
