Saints looking for loan deal striker

SAINTS will again look to bolster their forward line when the Football League loan window reopens next week.

Caretaker manager Dean Wilkins revealed the club had tried to bring in some new faces on Tuesday ahead of the transfer deadline.

But, despite their efforts, Saints were unable to secure any signings.

“We’ve tried, we have tried, but it hasn’t worked out,” said Wilkins.

The man who has stepped into Alan Pardew’s shoes has admitted the squad does need strengthening, and it is no secret the club has been looking to add players up front and out wide.

Before his sacking on Monday, Pardew was known to have wanted to inject some pace into the team.

The Echo understands he was showing interest in Nottingham Forest forward Nathan Tyson, as well as wingers Franck Moussa, of Leicester, and Michael McIndoe, of Coventry.

None of those came to fruition, though.

But Wilkins insists the search for new blood in the form of a loan deal has not ended.

Full story in today's Daily Echo.

It was a huge shame Alan Pardew left it until the end of the window bargain sales.. most of the more organised clubs had signings lined up pretty sharply... That and the lack of form through the mediocre pre-season and start are concerning. Everyone keeps on about the 4-1 but heck 16 went past rovers in five games.. they are a team seemingly in turmoil. Failing to score against the O's showed we hadn't progressed since last year in my opinion.
I generally don't call on play but from what I've seen our crosses aren't getting into the box quick enough or from deep enough. Too many balls to outside centre of the box from most including Kelvin except Punch who hangs on to it a bit too long.
First looks at Guly surprised he seems a bit right footed but looks keen to take the ball into the box... when he settles in woo hoo... look out.
Swindons first goal was an absolute cracker.. credit due.. a real wingers cross and great finish by Pericard who everyone slagged last season's window. Their second was a good cross from a pacey winger too.. Our lads held 55% possession to 45% but were unsettled up front and undone by a very good looking attack from Swindon.. I'd expect them to be hot top six this year again. After the week we had there's no disgrace in the loss for Wilkies Reds.. which every camp anyone is in re all the rumour mongering that's disgraced this club recently it has to get better and fans can make it so..
Come on You Wilkies Reds when the going gets rough the tough get going!!

Your comments regard Pardew seem strange, a couple of weeks ago you where saying he was doing a great job and we should get behind him. Also were you at the Swindon game? We lost 3-0 the players were not up for it and looked shell shocked.
We all want saints to win, but honesty is always the best policy. I await the truth on Pardews dismissal until then we should stop slagging him off.

Exactly what I was going to say!! Dan you loved Pardew and he did nothing wrong, now he's gone you tell us how you really feel! That's bolloxx if you ask me! How is that giving your true opinions. No one's asking you to stop posting...just stop posting utter sh1t. Plastic.

We need quality.. a proven goalscorer/creator at at least championship level.
Age isn't an issue as we have enough youthful players to compensate...

Thinking along the lines of...Jamie Cureton a few years back.

I can only assume that "savage" means scathing? Hmmm, the plot thickens lol

On the Barry from subject.

Barry Evans was fat Pat's step son until his is untimely death at the hands of Janine to whom he was married.

Dean Wilkins is the spit of Barry from Eastenders, he manage's like Barry too.

May be the reason we could not get additional players in is because funds were not made available by Cortese?
A win is a must today if promotion hopes are to be maintained, new manager announced next week hopefully.
