UNDER-PRESSURE Saints chairman Nicola Cortese is expected to reveal Alan Pardew’s successor this week following a humiliating St Mary’s defeat against Rochdale.
For the second time in five days, sections of the fanbase chanted Pardew’s name as Saints’ horrendous week continued with a 2-0 defeat against the unfashionable League One newcomers.
That came on the back of Saints’ relinquishing their grip on the JPT with a 3-0 St Mary’s loss to Swindon.
Now Cortese could have Saints’ 13th manager of the Millennium in place by the time Saints face Swindon again, this time at the County Ground next Saturday in what will be only the club’s second away game in eight fixtures this season.
The Echo understands the new manager will be a young up and coming English boss.
Scunthorpe United’s highly-rated and well-educated manager Nigel Adkins leapt into the frame over the weekend, and he fits the template Cortese could be looking for.
