Brown reveals Saints talks

FORMER Hull City boss Phil Brown has revealed he held talks with Saints on Monday about becoming the club's new manager.
While Scunthorpe's Nigel Adkins is the clear favourite, Brown has been hopeful of landing the job ever since Alan Pardew was sacked last week.
The Daily Echo were the first to reveal the 51-year-old's interest in the post.
And Brown has now admitted he met with club officials earlier this week.
"I went along to speak to them on Monday," he said.
"It was very interesting, there's a very, very ambitious board. A very ambitious chairman.
"They've got (Les) Reed in there as a sort of director of football but he's got a different name to that.
"They certainly seem to be doing it right in the backroom, they're building the club from within and they've got a long-term plan. It's very, very ambitious.
"Everything about it is ready to move on. Albeit Alan had a half decent start, for whatever reason Alan found himself out of work and now there's a position down there. It is an ambitious club and certainly one that does interest me."
However, despite the talks, the Daily Echo understands Saints do not intend on appointing Brown as their manager.

Good! Adkins or O'Neill for me please! Preferably Adkins, as I think we need stability and O'Neill would be off like a shot the moment a good Prem team becomes available.
