Brazilian forward Guly do Prado’s exciting display against Tranmere Rovers has given Nigel Adkins one of a number of selection dilemmas for the trip to Huddersfield.

Saints travel to the Galpharm riding high after back-to-back wins against Cherries and Tranmere.

And it was Guly who was the star of the show last Saturday.

The 28-year-old was instrumental in Saints’ victory and turned in by far and away his best display since joining from Italian side Cesena in August.

With David Connolly still out with an abdominal injury and Lee Barnard starting on the bench after his well-publicised off-field problems, Guly started up front alongside Rickie Lambert.

It was an inspired move by Adkins with Guly’s trickery unlocking the Tranmere defence on a number of occasions.

The Brazilian’s performance – on his first League One start after six sub appearances under three different managers – would certainly make it difficult for the Saints boss to leave him out this weekend.

But Barnard also put his case forward for a return with a lively last 25 minutes, after he replaced the tiring Guly.
