Gymnasts from the Chamberlayne club scored more medal success at the Summer Tournament in Milton Keynes.

In the Sports Acro competition Prep B Paris Tanya Harris and Caitlin Bartlett (pictured far right) won the gold medal.

In the tumbling competition Regional Level two Calisha Robinson gained a bronze medal, while Sophie Mail achieved silver at regional level 4. At national level two (12-14yrs) Chamberlayne had a clean sweep of the medals with Jenna Freeman in gold medal position, Charlotte Bowen silver and Giessica De Muro bronze.

At national level three (12-14) Tanya Harris took the bronze medal with Leah Pike winning silver in the 15+ age group.

Pike (pictured left) has now decided to retire from competetive gymnastics to concentrate on her studies, although she will continue with Chamberlayne Gymnastics Club as a coach.

Pike started pre-school gymnastics aged 18 months and has a fantastic list of achievements under her belt, including bronze at the British Tumbling Championships and more recently a very respectable 19th place overall at the British Artistic Grade Championships in Birmingham.

Pike was placed sixth overall on the bars.

Chamberlayne Gymnastics Club are putting on a display at Mayfield Park today to celebrate youth achievement between 4pm and 7pm and including live music and sports and games plus a free prize draw.

Tomorrow the club will also be staging on a display for Chamberlayne Leisure Centre's annual summer fete (noon-3pm). The club also hope to raise money for new equipment for the gym.

As a result of the club's success they are expanding to new premises at Grove Park Sports Centre, which will provide better facilities and training environment.

The club will be working hard to raise additional funds for new equipment and for the larger premises. If anyone is interested in providing support or sponsorship, at any level the club would be delighted to hear from them.

They train at Chamberlayne Leisure Centre, 150 Weston Lane, Southampton.
