It was a big shock to hear that Chris Tremlett was not included in England's 30-man provisional squad for the ICC Champions Trophy.

I know he was injured when the squad was announced during our draw against Middlesex at Lord's last week, but that had nothing to do with it.

The selectors still included Tim Bresnan, James Anderson and Ian Blackwell, all of whom are sidelined at the moment, presumably because the tournament does not start for another couple of months.

Chris is one of the best one-day bowlers in the country. He showed what he could do for England against Australia and Bangladesh last season and I cannot understand why he has suddenly been overlooked.

Stuart Broad, the young Leicestershire fast bowler, is similar to Chris in that he is 6ft 6in and quick, and his inclusion is a good one as far as I'm concerned.

I saw him bowl for Leicestershire on Twenty20 finals day and he looked an excellent prospect and is definitely one for the future.

People have been raving about him for some time but there is room for both him and Chris in the squad.

I have more of a problem with players being included on the basis of one good season - players like Durham's Graham Onions.

Sussex's Michael Yardy is another surprise choice but I was not surprised they left me out again.

If I was going to be picked by England it would have happened a couple of years ago. I've had better seasons than this year and while I think I'm a better player than some in the 30-man party, I will be very surprised if I ever play international cricket.
