YEOVIL midfielder Paul Wotton is relishing a reunion with Saints tomorrow, as Nigel Adkins’ men finish their preparations for the new Championship season.

Wotton will come face-to-face with his old side when they visit Huish Park for their final pre-season friendly of the summer.

The 33-year-old spent two-and-a-half years at St Mary’s, before having his contract terminated by mutual consent last January, allowing him to join the Glovers.

“It will be great to catch up with the boys again,” said Wotton.

“I’ve got a lot of good friends at that football club and I was made up for them when they got promoted.

“I actually went to watch the game at Plymouth when they went up, and they were great scenes.

“The minimum that club should be in is the Championship.”

And Wotton believes Saints can challenge towards the top end of the second tier this season.

“I see no reason either why they can’t push on and compete this year too,” he said.

“I think they will be absolutely fine going up a level.

“They have made some good signings and I’m sure they will make a few more.”
