Saints’ lead at the top of the Championship table has been trimmed to three points after a 1-1 draw at Reading.

Most of the action came in the final 20 minutes with ten man Saints in the end happy to get away with a point from their trip to the Madjeski Stadium.

Mikele Leigertwood fired Reading into the lead on 71 minutes after Jobi McAnuff’s free kick had hit the post.

Dean Hammond was sent off after picking up two yellow cards in the space of seven minutes but Steve De Ridder’s stunning strike with ten minutes remaining rescued a point.
