SAINTS boss Nigel Adkins has reiterated the importance of his squad rotation policy, after once again tinkering with his side for the win at Coventry.

Skipper Dean Hammond was dropped to the substitutes bench for a rest, while left back Danny Fox returned to the starting XI having been given a breather in the victory over Peterborough last Tuesday.

In a hectic six-game schedule since the last international break, Adkins has not once named an unchanged team.

In that time, Saints have gone unbeaten and reinforced their position at the top of the Championship, while avoiding any significant injuries.

“Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday is very challenging,” said Adkins. “We’ve rotated the squad, which is important, to try and keep everybody involved, and we’re trying to nullify the risk of injuries as well.
