IF Jamie White bangs in 50 goals for Sydenhams title hopefuls Winchester City this season, club owner Paul McCarthy won’t expect to see him next season.

The ex-Saints striker is already well over halfway there with 29 netted in all competitions since his September arrival at the Denplan City Ground – a fact not lost on several Football League clubs.

White, 22, has been training with AFC Bournemouth since before Christmas and, as City owner Paul McCarthy revealed, he was being watched by a variety of scouts during last Saturday’s 2-2 top-of-the-table Wessex clash with Bemerton Heath Harlequins.

“We had Championship, League One and League Two scouts watching Jamie against Bemerton,” said McCarthy.

“Jamie scored our equaliser but he wasn’t at his best and that was down to the pressure of everyone being here and him being aware that people were watching him.

“He’s still training with Bournemouth and the door’s open for non-League players down there, but (Cherries boss) Lee Bradbury’s already got lads like Charlie Sheringham and Wes Fogden and, at this stage, he can’t focus on too many at once.

“But Jamie’s well and truly on Bournemouth’s radar and if he scores 50 goals this season then I don’t think he’ll be at Winchester next year."
