Bradley Bubb scored his fourth goal in two games as Eastleigh beat Havant & Waterlooville for the first time under Ian Baird.
New signing Daryl McMahon gave Eastleigh a fourth-minute lead with a cross-cum-shot.
And shortly after Damian Scannel had seized on a loose ball to double the lead, Havant's Sam Pearce scored the first of his two goals to reduce the arrears in the 44th minute.
But Bubb, having scored a hat-trick in the Spitfires' last win at the Silverlake Stadium, then scored a crucial third on the counter attack.
Pearce reduced the deficit to set up an interesting finish, but Eastleigh held on.
Read tomorrow's Daily Echo for Ian Baird's reaction.
