Eastleigh boss Ian Baird rubbed salt into his old club's wounds last night by describing them as "one of the poorest Havant & Waterlooville sides I've seen in a long time."
Although the Spitfires' 3-2 victory margin suggests it was a close encounter at the Silverlake, Baird felt there was a world of footballing difference between the sides.
Goals by flair players Daryl McMahon, Damian Scannell and Bradley Bubb secured Eastleigh the Blue Square Bet South points.
And, although his side were punished for a couple of defensive lapses, Baird said they only had to deal with "one real weapon" - Havant's threat from set pieces and long throws.
Havant boss Shaun Gale begged to differ, however, and felt his side dominated the second half.
And in a dig at Eastleigh's recent influx of cash, he added: "If that's what the benchmark is having spent all that money, then we're not far behind them -if at all.
"They didn't cause us any problems, we caused our own problems. Their first two goals were gifts."
