DAVE Malone has tendered his resignation as a director of Blue Square Bet South outfit Eastleigh.
After six years at Stoneham Lane, the Spitfires’ director of football has decided to stand down and leave the club’s new majority shareholders Bridle Insurance to drive the club forward.
It was Malone who introduced Bridle’s Stewart Donald and Neil Fox to the club’s board back in October and, along with chairman Paul Murray and finance director Alan Williams, worked for over three months to facilitate the share purchase and subsequent acquistion of a majority interest in the club.
“I believe the time is right for me to stand aside and allow them to take this club forward in the manner they see fit,” said Malone.
“I would like to thank everybody associated with Eastleigh Football Club for allowing me the privilege of sharing so many positive experiences over the past six years and I truly wish the club every future success.”

I had the "pleasure" of meeting Malone several times when I was Manager in the Wessex League. I hope he has now grown up, as back then he was obnoxious.
