Hooiveld set for Fonte reunion

JOS HOOIVELD JOS HOOIVELD

Saints are hoping to welcome Jos Hooiveld back into the side to face Burnley at St Mary’s tomorrow.

The centre half has been a huge hit since his switch from Celtic, initially on loan before securing a permanent deal.

However, he has been missing for the last four games after hurting his hamstring in the St Mary’s loss to Leicester.

If Hooiveld does make it back then it is expected he will resume his partnership with Jose Fonte with Aaron Martin the man to make way.

With Fonte having also suffered from injury the pair haven’t played together yet in 2012.

Danny Fox also comes back into the reckoning at left back having served his one game ban for a red card at Birmingham. Dan Harding came in to replace him for the FA Cup defeat to Millwall and is the man Fox is hoping to dispossess.

Me too. People say his defending isn't as good as Harding's which is just (in my opinion) rubbish! Plus his dead ball deliveries and crosses into the box are much better!

This is great news. We have really missed Hooiveld at the back, I think Aaron Martin has had his chance, and I really don't think he makes the cut for this league. Maybe in another season or 2 he might be ready for the big league.

Thank **** for that!!

Everyone back on the bus now floor it.
No more of this side passing and back passing malarkey, get the ball in the box and shoot from wherever just like were doing at the start of the season.

Game on!! COYR No more messing about....

I can't really judge, but that seems a bit harsh. Some said he was MOTM at Brum.

Excellent news! In my opinion fox is better than Harding, his cross field balls and deliveries are great! Lambert and sharp to start up top and lallana and puncheon on the wings

there has go to be room in the team fo Guly.Despite people on here having a pop at him, the guy has got 10 goals from open play.
Guly and Lallana out wide feeding Rickie and Billy up front.
Cork and Spiderman in the middle.
This is the first time we have had no major injury problems.
Cant understand the comments re Martin, he is a young lad learning his trade, he has done OK don't forget left side would not be his chosen position.

Agree with your comments re Martin; considering his age and experience and playing on left lately he has done well although still room for development.

Not convinced over Spiderman as first choice in the middle, loses possesion too easiliy and can lose his cool to easily for my liking.

Just Seabourne and Butterfield not involved in full training, but both are running, so could potentially be close to coming back.

As you say,a happy selection headache, that will have the fans calling each other names when they name their preferred teams, only to be slagged off by others.

This has been a great spell for Arron Martin, and will, I am sure do his confidence the world of good the next time he comes off the bench. That said, the Hooiveld and Fonte combo is the one that will get us promoted, and in my opinion is the best news we could have right now.

All this talk of the midfield. In my opinion, Chaplow must play. Lallana, cork, Chaplow, puncheon. Thoughts?

Llanna, cork, chaplow (reeves for his display against millwall), puncheon for me this has to be the best option for the displays over the last 2 months possibly schniderlin in the middle

Jos is a very important player for us, and to think I said 'he looks a bit shaky' during his first outing, shows what I know! I think its right that choosing between chappers and punch is tough, I would like to see St.Henleys suggestion, just wonder if they could work together, being so similar in style and preferred role?

This is good news. Jos is a great player, and when next to Fonte, we are solid. We just need to create some goals with the possession we keep, and thats why we have brought in players like Sharp. COYR! Lets get Promoted, and be where we should be.
