  • "Any win would do, but we are overdue a really big win. Let's have fun out there. Know we only go top because WHU are not playing, but psychologically would be great...show the others we are still the main contenders for automatic promotion."

DERBY boss Nigel Clough insists his stuttering Rams side have a “glimmer” of hope at St Mary’s today.

County are winless in their last four Championship games and are up against a Saints team that boast the best home record in the division.

Yet Clough believes the result is not a foregone conclusion.

The Rams manager points to recent away wins from Bristol City and Leicester at St Mary’s, as well as Millwall’s FA Cup success there this month, as reason for hope.

“They got off to such a fantastic start that it’s allowed them to have a couple of off games,” said Clough.

“They’ve lost their incredible unbeaten home run as well in that time.

“That wasn’t going to keep going on and on and on.

“So that gives us a little bit of a glimmer as well, that other teams have been there recently and won.”

While Saints’ home form has undoubtedly dipped in the last two months, they are also coming off the back of an impressive 2-0 win over Burnley at St Mary’s last weekend.
