A lot of French music is AMAZING: Daft Punk, Stereolab, Justice, Air, Kid Loco, Phoenix, Dmitri From Paris, Alex Gopher, Sebastian Tellier, Serge Gainsbourg, Michel Polnareff, Etienne De Crecy and, er, an awful lot of hip hop that I would like more if I knew what they were talking about.
Will have to take your word for it. Serge G. aside, the others are a bit beyond my scope.

My sons like the hip hop group, Sexion D'Assaut, who had a big hit a couple of years ago called Desole.

Also, there's a bloke called Calogero who makes interesting (though maybe too commercial for you) music and one or two others I can listen to for a song or two before switching off, but far too much of it just sounds like boom-titty-boom-titt

    y-boom for me.
French music has undoubted pockets of quality and creativity... very small pockets, very hard to find .. mainly because they copy American or British music and are seldom original... but the fact is that any emerging talent they may have is swamped by a media and population that still insists that Johnny Halliday is a rock legend. Oh!! Please!!

Whoooaa how did that happen?? I was on an Echo Saints site and suddenly I'm on a late night independent radio show talking about French music!! I need to up my medication."

JOS Hooiveld has received a glowing endorsement from one of Saints’ most legendary defenders.

The centre half has established himself as a lynchpin of the side since moving from Celtic earlier this season.

His partnership with Jose Fonte at the heart of defence has been a major ingredient in Saints’ recipe for success during the current campaign.

And Hooiveld is also proving a valuable asset in front of goal, having netted in the club’s last two games, against West Ham and Derby.

Ex-Saints defender Francis Benali is one of many who have been impressed by the Dutchman’s contribution.

Benali was in among the away supporters at Upton Park last week to watch Hooiveld first-hand, as the 28-year-old bagged a valuable equaliser against the Hammers.

And he believes Hooiveld, who recently returned from a three-week lay-off with a hamstring injury, will play an important part in the remainder of the club’s promotion push.
