Jones backs keeper Davis to be a Premier star

Kelvin Davis Kelvin Davis

KELVIN Davis is good enough to play in the Premier League again, according to ex-Saints keeper Paul Jones.

Club captain Davis is hoping to lead Southampton back into the top-flight next season by securing promotion from the Championship.

Going in to this afternoon’s clash with Watford, Saints had 14 games left to achieve that goal.

If they get there, Jones believes there will need to be plenty of strengthening to the squad.

But he is confident that, with Davis in situ, goalkeeper is not an area that will need significant improvement.

Why not? Some people just take the work our players are doing for granted and plan to offload them all if we go up.
Not the way to go if you ask me...

He's a good keeper and better than Jones was.

Opinion is divided on KD. For me, he is at least as good as half of the current prem keepers. Whatever anyone's view may be on him...he is as good a servant to this Club as we have ever had. He's stuck with us during the lean times...so I'd love for him to lead us out in the PL next season!

We were spoilt with Shilton, Flowers and Niemi. Top keepers the lot of them. Shilts was possibly the best in the world at that time.

What do you expect from the morally corrupt FA or FL? Nothing they say or do surprises me any more. They live in a different world from the real one...just ask HMRC.
