Eastleigh boss Ian Baird would love to sign Bradley Bubb when his loan deal expires at the end of the season.

The Aldershot Town hitman added two more goals to his growing collection as Eastleigh survived a shaky second-half performance to see off Truro City 3-1 and climb to sixth in the Blue Square Bet South.

It makes it nine scored in the last six games for the 23-year- old north Londoner whose pace and eye for goal has won him a host of admirers since his mid-January arrival at the Silverlake.

Bubb took just 17 minutes to open his account on Saturday, arriving unmarked at the back stick to nod in Damian Scannell’s inviting delivery from the left.

Jamie Brown – selected ahead of midfielder Philip Appiah – doubled the Spitfires’ advantage ten min utes later, finishing from inside the six-yard box after great work by Mitchell Nelson down the right.

At that stage Truro looked a well beaten side, undone by some inept first-half defend ing.

Yet when Bubb struck again with just two minutes of nor mal time remaining, the Spitfires were clinging precari ously to a 2-1 lead after skipper Jake Ash had profited from towering defender Arran Pugh’s headed flick-on from a free kick.

“In the first half we played very well attacking-wise, but I expected Truro to come out and have a go at us,” said Baird.

"We conceded 14 free kicks in the second half and Truro kept getting the ball into good areas which was difficult to defend.

“We didn’t play well as an 11 because we couldn’t get out or look after the ball. But we did n’t half defend our goal well in our 18-yard box.”

The pressure was lifted on 88 minutes Bubb was sent clear by an excellent ball out of defence from his former Farnborough teammate Daryl McMahon and coolly beat keeper Oliver Chenoweth one- on-one.

“When you look at Bradley’s goal ratio he’s done ever so well and he’s a bit disappoint ed he didn’t get a hat-trick today,” said Baird.

“I haven’t spoken to Bradley too much about his future because it’s only the end of February. Whether or not we can sign him permanently remains to be seen, but I’d like to get him. He’s a decent fin isher.”

Despite his professional sta tus Bubb, who joined Aldershot from last season’s BSB South runners-up Farnborough, is limited to training with Eastleigh twice a week.

“He’s banned from training with Aldershot. It’s something to do with his agent having a fall-out with the club,” Baird revealed.
