Bashley 4 AFC Totton 4 Nathaniel Sherborne hit a sensational late hat-trick as AFC Totton hit back from 4-1 behind to hold Evo-Stik Southern Premier League neighbours Bashley 4-4 in appalling New Forest conditions, writes Mike Vimpany.

Totton were on the brink of slipping out of the play-off zone when a Dave Allen penalty and a fourth goal by Mark Gamble stretched Bashley's 2-1 half-time lead to 4-1 with 16 minutes left.

But Sherborne scored twice in four minutes and then bagged a stoppage-time equaliser as Totton salvaged an unlikely draw.

The Stags remain in fifth spot with 68 points from 39 matches, but only a superior goal difference separates them from Cambridge United, who thrashed Bedford Town 6-1.

Richard Gillespie shot Bashley into a 13th minute, but Totton were back on level terms three minutes later through a James Whisken header.

Gary Middleton restored Bashley's lead on the stroke of half-time.

Allen, with a 51st minute penalty, and Gamble scored to make it 4-1.

But, using the swirling wind and rain to their advantage, Totton salvaged a draw with Sherborne's hat-trick goals coming in the 79th, 83rd and 90th minutes.
