Lambert backed for top flight success

RICKIE LAMBERT RICKIE LAMBERT

Rickie Lambert WILL score goals in the Premier League next season.

That was the view of Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman after Lambert’s double had given Saints a 2-0 victory at Selhurst Park yesterday.

Lambert now has 30 league and cup goals to his name this term, including 26 in the league.

Freedman admitted: "Rickie Lambert was the difference.

"He has experience and if I was a betting man I'd say he'll produce a few goals in the Premier League.

"The first goal was against the run of play and was a bitter pill to swallow.

"But I'm very happy with our performance. We gave it a right good go with six youngsters against a top team."

Arent the Irons Scunthorpe?

Irons, Hammers doesnt matter we are still six points clear with 4 to play. A win at Peterbourough and Home to Cov will be enough for automatic promotion. Friday is basically the title decider

Was it you who had your Palace ticket locked at work over the weekend?

If so, did you manage to retrieve it & get to the game???

Take Ricky to the euros, he deserves a England chance. He scores bags of goals, you would put your mortgage on him scoring a penalty and his hold up play and use as a targer man are awesome - plus if given the chance he has free kicks in his locker as well.
Better that the other options like Welbeck, Zamora etc.

If you think it through, anyone saying he won't succeed in the Premiership is suggesting that the highest goalscorer in this division is not good enough for the Prem. Thus, you'd be suggesting that NO championship striker could ever succeed in the Prem.

The same idiots were suggesting last year that he'd not succeed above League 1.

I strongly feel (and I say this as one of his biggest supporters) that his biggest problem for casual assessors is that he runs like a carthorse. Makes him LOOK slow. The fact that he always ends up in the right place at the right time belies that myth.

Headlines will dictate the fact that Lambert is an outstanding scorer, adaptable, good feet and football brain for a big Guy.He will score at any level, look at his mate Holt for example.
Teams in this division defend his dead balls better but in open play he is a nightmare for central defenders.
Boogie Freedman overlooked the fact that Hammond and Chaplow were the key to this win.Deano has lead by example for the last 2,Chappers was back to what he does best.
Fonte looked back to his best as well, overall a great all round performance by the whole team. 7 out of 10 all round, IMO.
Together as one. COYR.

We're not getting past the group stages anyway so what difference does it make!?

It's your lot that'll get found out by August. Your username should be PTJ1898 - Pompey 'til July. RIP 2012. Nevermind eh?

And i suppose Crouchy and Defoe were Player of the Tournament nominees last time out? If Holt is being considered, lets face it he won't go, then Lambert deserves a mention...but the press haven't mentioned us all season so don't hold you're breath...except you skates!

Rickie Lambert has over 200 career goals, Saints are getting promoted with a nice UEFA 4 star stadium, excellent youth setup, bags of cash to spend on great players next year in the Premier League, Pompey are going down (and could even go out of existence) and still the fish fiddlers think they can come out and post on here! Stop it! We're laughing at you so much it hurts our sides. Get some self respect and go and follow badminton or something.

I heard that RL has (or will) be the only player to pick up the Golden Boot from 3 different divisions L2 L1 Championship... is this correct?

If you're talking about what will be, don't forget his winning it in the premiership next year...

nah he hasnt - checked on Wiki but interesting pointer League 2 Golden boot winner 2008–09 Grant Holt Shrewsbury Town 20 so he has done will stepping up 4 divisions with Norwich !!!

Dont forget Billy Sharp has won the golden boot twice in League 1 same as Rickie. If Brghton doesnt get promotion makes sense to take a punt on Craig Mackail-Smith
