Portsmouth could be relegated by Saturday evening.
Pompey’s 1-0 defeat against Millwall at Fratton Park appears to have doomed Saints’ bitter rivals to relegation to League One.
If Bristol City better Pompey’s result at the weekend, and Nottingham Forest get at least a point, then it would seal the fate of Michael Appleton’s men.
The only saving grace for Pompey is that Bristol City have a tricky game away to play-off hopefuls Birmingham while Pompey travel to fellow strugglers Doncaster.
But with Pompey now nine points adrift of safety with four games left it looks a big ask for the administration hit club to stay up.
