EASTLEIGH athlete David Smith has been selected for Great Britain's Paralympic Games team.
Smith is a Boccia player who was part of the BC1/BC2 squad that won gold at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games.
He is now hoping to repeat that feat in London this summer.
"I am thrilled to be selected," he said. "It is the culmination of four years of hard work. The thing I like about Boccia is that it is a rapidly and constantly evolving sport. The standard of play is much higher than the last Paralympics.
"I have evolved too, and changed everything to a varying degree. I am really excited to see whether these changes work.
"The fact we are competing at a home Games is really exciting and I am going to do my absolute best."
