Hampshire dismissed Kevin Pietersen for a diamond duck before securing their fifth successive Friends Life t20 win at a sodden Oval last night.
Playing his first game against Hampshire since leaving for Surrey two years ago, Pietersen opened against his former teammates in a dramatic, rain-reduced match.
But he was soon on his way after falling victim to the first ball of the match from the excellent Liam Dawson (2-10), brilliantly caught by a diving Jimmy Adams at extra cover.
“I was just happy it stuck because if I’d dropped it it would have been a stinker,” laughed Adams.
Hampshire's 19-run Duckworth-Lewis win gives them an outstanding chance of qualifying for a fourth t20 quarter-final in as many seasons.

I notice the moment the obnoxious arrogant South African walked out on the England one-day team he announced that he would be away on the other side of the World when they played their first ODI against the West Indies. Absoloutely no mention of actually going back to Surrey to help out his county of course.
Give it a year or so and Surrey will be as glad to see the back of him as every other team he has ever played for has.
And the England ODI team seem to be improving dramatically without him don't they?
Just imagine how good the England Test team will be when he inevitably walks out on them and they will be free of his ego.
