Hampshire dismissed Kevin Pietersen for a diamond duck before securing their fifth successive Friends Life t20 win at a sodden Oval last night.
Playing his first game against Hampshire since leaving for Surrey two years ago, Pietersen opened against his former teammates in a dramatic, rain-reduced match.
But he was soon on his way after falling victim to the first ball of the match from the excellent Liam Dawson (2-10), brilliantly caught by a diving Jimmy Adams at extra cover.
āI was just happy it stuck because if Iād dropped it it would have been a stinker,ā laughed Adams.
Hampshire's 19-run Duckworth-Lewis win gives them an outstanding chance of qualifying for a fourth t20 quarter-final in as many seasons.
