Saints won't listen to offers for Shaw
6:50am Wednesday 4th July 2012 in Sport
Luke Shaw
Saints are set to emphatically reject any approach for teenage left back Luke Shaw.
The 16-year-old is interesting Champions League winners Chelsea, who could test Saints’ resolve with a £4m offer.
However, Saints are keen to send out a clear message by turning down the offer outright and refusing to enter into any discussions regarding Shaw.
The 16-year-old, who was signed aged eight in the time of former academy chief Huw Jennings, is a hot property and has been watched by a host of Premier League scouts.
Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United have all had Shaw extensively watched, as have Chelsea.
It is the Blues though that could be the first to make a serious move but it appears they will be totally unsuccessful.

Watch out for the greedy rich clubs in the top 10, they will want to nick your best players and unless the Saints can replace with as good or better you will struggle.
Look at Reading( and other newly promoted clubs), first season brilliant, then sold some key players and it all went pear shaped.
It is not just the greedy top ten clubs, some of your players will be hoping for a nice transfer fee and huge weekly wages too, plus the fame of playing for a super rich club.
Best of luck you Saints...hope Arsenal do not give you a hard time and a lesson in football.
Theo, Ox, go easy on them!!!

If he doesn't loan him out then I think NA will be thinking about giving him a chance, what will that mean for Dan Harding, especially if we sign Buttner aswell.

He looked equally at home playing out there cutting in from the right on his left foot.
.
This made those PL scouts very upset because they had been asked to write a report on his qualities as a left back.
.
I understand Saints did it for the long term development of the kid in that he would know first hand what options a right winger had went cutting in from the right with his left foot, it was all part of his development as a left back. However those scouts were p***ed off with Saints.

"£15 million on the training ground" Hysterical!
"Will be the hottest property in English football" Guffoar! He has great potential but come on, have you seen all the other lads at other clubs? As somebody who regularly watches games at Marchwood he will be valued a little bit behind JWP.
"...pledged to have 50% of players come from the academy" Um no we haven't,we have said that is an aspiration.
Come on peeps up your game its all a bit playground dont you think.
BTW, as an opinion/guess I would think Arsenal are most likely to knock hardest on NC's door, and like everybody else I will be very interested to see his stance.

let me just say I am a fan and dont claim to be an expert, but as you have asked for my opinion here you go:
Obviously the 4 lads who have been promoted to the 1st team are all exciting because they, along with Chambo, were the best of a VERY strong year group. James Ward Prowse is my personal fav because he plays in the middle and is very intelligent. Took his goal at Coventry so calmly last year when still really only a schoolboy and numerous appearances for England. Of the younger ones Scott Sinclairs younger brother is progressing well and there is also a very young striker who plays in older age groups but he is only 13 so I dont think its fair to name him really. Get up there and have a look.

For financial reasons Im afraid I have to pick n choose the away trips. I do about 5 a year or maybe more if we have a good cup run. I try and tick off grounds I have never been to before, so my targets this year are: Man City, Anfield, Goodison, St James Park, The Brittania, Stadium of Light. Done all the others.

I would love a season ticket and could easily afford one. However, I work long hours and would rather spend my spare time with the wife and kids.
What about supporters who can't afford one or those supporters who are in the Armed Forces??? Are their opinions less valued???
My old man played for the Saints along side the likes of Shilton, Mark Wright, Townsend, Case, Le Tissier and Alan Shearer was his apprentice. How valued is my opinion??
Rant over. (for now)

How about I raise you the Franny goal and give both Lundekvam goals and also his 1 in a friendly against Swindon which I remember for some reason
Can I offer you Ivan Golac tackling Jesper Olsen in the knackers on his United debut at the Dell. I caught the balls in the Milton Rd End and juggled with them
And I was there when Gordon Hobson scored on his debut. So, despite my relatively limited attendance in recent years, I should still be pushed up the list a bit, no?
As for Retford's musical taste, Puppy, he seems a bit elctro-plastic to me, but then, if he can team up with David Guetta and turn Oh When the Saints into an Ibiza classic, he might get my vote (if I'm allowed one, that is).
Hobson82, your Dad was one of Chris Nicholl's inspired signings. He surprised a lot of people with some great performances. Hope he's well.

Saints have a preseaon friendly with Exeter City at St James Park on 25th July at 7.45pm. Does anyone know if this match is open to away fans, as the Exeter City official website is a bit vague?

Still got out with all body parts intact and worked down there a few weeks later and had a brilliant time winding up some skaaates.
happy memories and I have a season ticket this season. I know this doesn't give me any points because I didn't have one for the last three seasons cos I couldn't afford it and only went to about ten games each season and only 3 away last season. I will try to keep up though.

I thought he was a good player but then again I'm biased.
Shame it didn't run in the genes, or maybe my mum had a thing for the milkman.

Oxo might not have gone if he had been playing last season with us in the Premiership and got to go to the Euros. As long as we were looking to kick on and develop as a club in the way NC and NA want he could have fullfilled his potential with Saints. Unfortunately the Euros came at the wrong time and Saints weren't playing in the top division.
JWP, Shaw, Stephens are the players I expect to push the hardest for places on the bench next season.

I can now ask and comment because I have bought mine, even if it hasn't been delivered, the money has gone out of my account!!
And of course Saints are saying the shirt is popular, but how many are being sold?
I am waiting for the white shirt, I think it is better, and are we going to get a third shirt? Yellow ? Black ? I am a minority, but I liked the NUFC gold + yellow stripe from a couple of years ago !
