I wouldn't have Jenas in my side ahead of Cork or Schneiderlin. I hope something does happen soon the days are ticking by and also the £25 quid for the Liebherr cup at present is not very appealing but i'm sure a couple of signings could change that

The current focus on TV coverage is because ther is no other news worthy of reporting. Player purchase at Saints is conducted better than anywhere I have seen in recnet years. We play it close to our chest, very few leaks have been seen and our purchases are careful, and so far succesful.

The fact that we are up agaist the champions for our first match seems to be construed, by some, as the first step in a downward spiral. What complete and utter rubbish.

The number of people who have pints half empty is astonishing when viewed against the backdrop of excellent management we have demonstrated.

Well said, I don't understand the constant need for everything to be either amazing, or disaster, what is wrong with a couple of months of quiet whilst we conduct sensible business and get the current squad ready for the first match of the season?

Give the guys a chance to build for the future, not just rush into panic spending or unsettling the current squad.

Yep. Reading have virtually completed their recruitment. But if you recall we did this last year and look at the result.

However, this is the Premier League!! We are financially managed by a shallow purse and a clenched fist. I think we miss out on some players because we don't pay over the top wages.

But in this league we can't wait until the new year to sign new players and expect to survive.

I hope we see three or four in soon.

I am glad we don't pay over the top wages, remember the Red Queen, in Alice in Wonderland, the faster you run towards her the more she moves away..Ie the more money we have the more we spend on player wages and ultimately the less money we have. Rangers and Pompey are cases in point. We need to be careful with the extra money and budget for worst case scenario, we don't want to be relagated with an inflated squad on inflated wages then we really would have gone backwards from the red queen.

agree with everthing said though, if we had gone out and spent £25mill-£50mill already people would be moaning about that, its not what you spend that counts its who you get! tad lee for free! is that enough money spent?
whilst our fellow promoted teams have spent money, i cant see that any of the players either have brought would be good enough for us. they are both looking just to survive this season, we are and must be looking to improve and move up the league! we must only spend money when right to do so, we dont need to panic buy any old jouneyman player that wont fit in with the saints way. the squad we have needs to be strengthened in certain areas yes but i am sure nigel and nicola know this and deals are being thrashed out.

Thank you Alicesdad, I was starting to think I had missed something and that the last two years had been just a really nice dream and I had woken to find we were in decline!!

I can't see how anyone can feel down about the Saints at the moment, I am gobsmacked to see how some fans quickly turn to the depths of depression!!

AlicesDad, spot on fella. Our club is indeed in good hands. I have always liked the model that Arsenal has pursued, particularly under Wenger’s watch. They have always been the club of Bank Managers and will be around long after any bubble burst.
TV money is nice to add to the coffers but Nicola will apply the same shrewd Arsenal logic in building this club up carefully for the long term. You will always be judged on your track record and I find it hard to find any cracks in the current regime, so why should I start panicking now?

I consider myself an optimist although my glass is often half empty, I put that down to a thirst for life and lager.

If I had my way, this site would be banned to all season ticket holders (just because), any fans who have been to at least one away match (they think they own the club), overseas fans who have travelled across the seas to attend one or more match (part-timers), people who moan and people who don't moan, Seedhouse (coz he's a Tory), Retford (because he's not), Slugger and Bill (I hate nepotism), Yorkie (Well, he lives in Yorkshire), Confucious (he makes me laugh, not serious enough), RedArmy1 (he's too loud), GKJ123456789 & GKJ987654321 (or whatever they're called - do I need a reason), Alice and his cat (I might one day be alergic to cats), Dan (only when the rugby's on), and you Puppy, along with Gossie, MackChinnon, Norgie and anyone else who drinks at The Station because the last time I popped in there, you'd all already bogged off to SMS, oh, and me.

Player purchase at Saints is conducted better than anywhere I have seen in recnet years. We play it close to our chest, very few leaks have been seen and our purchases are careful, and so far succesful. The fact that we are up agaist the champions for our first match seems to be construed, by some, as the first step in a downward spiral. What complete and utter rubbish. The number of people who have pints half empty is astonishing when viewed against the backdrop of excellent management we have demonstrated. Cheer up for ****s sake !!
