Saints defender Dan Harding signs for Nottingham Forest

DAN HARDING DAN HARDING

SAINTS left-back Dan Harding has signed for Championship side Nottingham Forest.

The 28-year-old left-back has signed a three-year contract and joins fellow new boys Adlene Guedioura, Danny Collins and Greg Halford at the City Ground, who all completed moves this week.

“It’s brilliant, I’m really pleased,” Harding told the club's official website, nottinghamforest.co.uk.

“I spoke to the gaffer Sean O’Driscoll and liked what he had to say. I’m really excited.”

Harding made 25 appearances for Southampton last season as they secured promotion to the Barclays Premier League .

Forest chairman Omar Al Hasawi told the club’s official website: “We’re delighted with the way things are taking shape.

“Like Adlene, Danny and Greg, Dan is an experienced performer and knows what it takes to gain promotion from the Championship.”

Wish Dan all the best at his new club...he played his part for us and I'm sure he'll do the same for Forest.

Thank you Dan for all your good work to help get us where we are today. You have been a good servant of the club and always gave us 100% on the field of play. I wish you every success with your new club Nottingham Forrest. You never know we may see you back at ST MARY'S next season if you win promotion with forrest.

Best of luck Dan, you served us very well in testing times for the club, and you, like others who have played their part should not be forgotten for your contribution. Be proud of what you achieved with the saints, and go and play your part in restoring another one of the country's great clubs! All the best

Reiterating the comments from above Dan Harding has been a good servant over the past 3 seasons but with Danny Fox and Luke Shaw fighting for that place it was right for him to move on.

Always a favourite player of mine, and unlucky not to get at least one game at PL level after all the hard work in getting there. Good luck at Forest.

Thanks for everything Dan, always committed and played his part to get us where we are now (particularly in League 1).
Will be welcomed back warmly if he ever plays back at St.Marys with Forest or another team.

Always seemed to divide opinion. I for one was a big fan. He was great in league one, did his job when asked in the Championship. But even i have to admit i don't think he wuld cut it in the prem. Good luck though Dan

Surely this must mean a new LB coming in soon? As much as Shaw is a fantastic prospect, I'm sure he won't be expected to provide complete cover for fox.

I have been a big admirer of Dan since he has been with us.
He was outstanding in league 1.
Certainly more than adequate in the championship.
I watched Dan harding at Brighton last season,in my mind his best performance,he frightened them to death.
He was absolutely brilliant.
Brighton had players falling all over the place to try to get him sent off.
Nigel had to take him off because of this, to prevent us going down to 10 men.
I think it's our loss, I feel he would have been good enough at Prem level,he has pace, something we are still short of.
Good luck at Forest and thanks for your great assist in our fantastic rise through the leagues.

I have always rated Dan Harding and to be honest I am not that over the moon about Fox, but he is cover for the youngster Luke Shaw who I believe is better than either of the two Dans of the last seasons, time indeed will tell if he gets his chance

Well with Harding gone, I have a feeling Nigel will bring in a new left back. Watched Shaw today on the box and thought he showed some good touches.Could the exodus be beginning, Harding gone, Barnard, Forte and Dixon to follow. Nigel is planning to bring in three more players within the next fortnight.

Forest fan in peace.

It's nice to see some nice comments from Saints fans about an outgoing player, It's an all too frequent thing to see a player that has been sold on to another club being slated by his former fans, so it is refreshing to see all the positive comments you guys have made about Dan Harding.

From a Forest perspective, it's nice that we have finally got a left back as we haven't had an established left back for about 3 seasons, having to rely on loan signings.

Good luck to the saints this coming season, back in the prem. You deserved the promotion last season and you deserve to stay in the prem, especially after some of the performances you gave last year.

See you in a years time in the prem! (i hope lol)....Forest Til I Die, COYR

Agree with all the positive things - Dan Harding was a great signing by Pardew, and even played right back in the Johnson Paints Final vctory. Dan, you served us very well over the past three years, thanks for all you gave us on the pitch. You were excellent in both seasons in League one, and you saw off the competition from Ryan Dickson and rightly kept your place in the team at the time. Being first choice in a big Championship team with aspirations at the top end is better than not being on the bench in the Prem.
