RICHARD Bland posted his best finish of the season in today’s final round of the Lyoness Open in Austria.
The 39-year-old started the final 18 holes tied for third place on 12 under, but a cold putter saw him fall out of contention.
However, the Stoneham pro hit two birdies late on to finish eighth and bank his biggest cheque of the season, 23,700 Euros, after shooting a level par 72.
Home player Bernd Wiesberger won the event with a -19 total.
Needing a top 115 finish in the Race to Dubai to secure his full playing rights for 2013, Bland has leapt 20 places to 126th with earning of 105,000 Euros.
