Saints midfielder Jack Cork will be guaranteed the chance to win an Olympic medal if Great Britain can overcome South Korea tonight.

Team GB go into the last-eight clash at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium as favourites to advance to the London 2012 semi-finals, writes NICK CLOWES.

That would ensure the Group A winners of a place in either the bronze or gold medal match Saints ace is targeting medal – and give Cork the chance to be one of the first British footballers for a century to win an Olympic medal.

Cork, who was used as a late sub in each of the three preliminary round games, admitted he has been gripped by Olympic fever.

“This is a great experience for me,” said the 23- year-old. “It’s the Olympic Games and it’s a dream to play in it. I never thought when I was growing up that I would be here playing in the Olympics , but it’s great.”
