6:36pm
Well, that will do it for me today. A wonderful afternoon, and congratulations to Dani King.
6:30pm
The medal ceremony is taking place now. King, Trott and Rowsell step onto the podium and salute the crowd. King is the first to receive her gold medal, followed by Trott and then Rowsell. King, who is unable to contain a beaming smile, sings the national anthem proudly, before they receive an enormous ovation from the fans in the velodrome.
6:25pm
It’s mad, I actually can’t believe it. It’s been my dream since I was eight and we’ve just gone and done it.
Laura Trott
We’re like sisters, and I couldn’t have done it without them. They were absolutely incredible and I can’t believe we’ve done it, it’s absolutely amazing.
Dani King
I could tell we were winning by the noise of the crowd. They were shouting so loud and that really spurred us on in that last kilometre.
Joanna Rowsell
6:13pm
That was an amazing performance from the British girls. They finished in a time of 3mins 14.051secs. They nearly caught the Americans by the end of the race. There are tremendous scenes in the velodrome, as King, Trott and Rowsell celebrate Olympic gold.
6:09pm
DANI KING WINS OLYMPIC GOLD! ANOTHER WORLD RECORD!
6:08pm
2,000m in and it's now more than two seconds!
6:07pm
1,500m and the gap is now nearly two seconds. The gold is theirs barring disaster.
6:07pm
1,000m in and Britain are crushing the Americans. They are nearly three-quarters of a second ahead.
6:05pm
They're off!
6:05pm
Here we go. King, Trott and Rowsell out onto the track. They get a huge standing ovation as they head to the start line. GB v USA for the gold.
6:03pm
Canada pip the Aussies for the bronze in a thrilling race. It's about to get very loud now...
5:59pm
New Zealand win that one. Now it's the bronze medal ride between Australia and Canada.
5:55pm
We've got the fifth and sixth-placed race between Netherlands and New Zealand right now. The Bronze medal contest will follow, then it's the turn of the British girls.
5:48pm
The action is due to get underway in the velodrome shortly. The start will be slightly later than officially scheduled.

4:42pm
The bronze medal ride, which is due to start at 5.42pm, will be contested by Australia and Canada.
4:34pm
The time is 3mins 14.682secs - nearly a second better than the time they posted yesterday. It's the fifth ride in a row that this trio have posted a new world record. Great Britain will now face USA for the gold medal in just over an hour.
4:32pm
WORLD RECORD! King, Trott and Rowsell are in the final.
4:31pm
Canada are putting up a decent fight, but it won't be enough. At 2,000m, the GB girls are 1.752 seconds ahead. They could smash the world record.
4:30pm
Britain go into an early lead, and at the first 1,000m split they are 0.572 seconds ahead of Canada. They're on world record pace too.
4:29pm
And they're off...
4:29pm
A huge cheer from the velodrome as the British girls appear. They're just 3,000m away from the final. Canada are their opponents, but it's unlikely they can live with King, Trott and Rowsell here. Perhaps the bigger question is can the Brits beat their world record time?
4:28pm
And USA win to advance to the final, in a time of 3mins 16.853secs. That's still over a second slower than what Great Britain posted yesterday.
4:23pm
Here we go with heat three: USA v Australia. The winner goes through to the gold medal race.
4:22pm
Netherlands beat Germany in heat one. New Zealand beat Belarus in heat two. Those teams, along with the two losers in the USA v Australia and Great Britain v Canada races, will be ranked according to their times. The best two will then ride off against each other for the bronze medal.
4:05pm
There has been plenty of support pouring in for the 21-year-old. Here’s our story on the backing Dani is receiving .

3:54pm
Good afternoon sports fans, and welcome to our live blog covering Hamble track cyclist Dani King’s pursuit (get it?!) of Olympic gold.
It’s been quite a day for Team GB so far, with two more gold medals in the rowing, Jessica Ennis almost certain to add another later on when the heptathlon comes to a conclusion, and Mo Farah going for the 10,000m title tonight.
But, for now, the attention turns to the Olympic Park velodrome, where the British trio of Dani, Laura Trott and Joanna Rowsell are hot favourites to win the women’s team pursuit. And for good reason. The double world champions set a new world record time in qualifying, as they finished nearly four seconds ahead of their nearest rivals.
After yesterday’s timed laps, we now enter the head-to-head stages. Canada, who were fourth in qualifying, will be GB’s opponents in the semi-finals, while United States face Australia for a place in the gold medal ride.
The session starts at 4.11pm, with two classification races due before the top four teams battle it out. The finals then begin at 5.42pm. So sit back and enjoy the ride…
