Hampshire have a must-win Clydesdale Bank 40 game against Surrey at the Ageas Bowl on Sunday after losing at home to Somerset tonight.

James Vince's brilliant 95 proved to be in vain as the Royals were bowled out for 178 in reply to Somerset's 228-8.

The 50-run defeat means Hampshire need to win their last two group games, against Surrey and Durham, to reach the semi-finals.

We don't need to win both games but the Surrey game is crucial. Only the group winners will prgress from Group B as Group C will have the best runner-up, so we have to beat Surrey but maybe not Durham given our superior net run rate.

Vince was the only shining light in a pretty pathetic display last night. At 15 for 3 it looked like it was all over, but Vince kept the runs ticking over. All in, 5 batters went for nought.... hardly semi-final material

I hardly think you can say Vince starred when for three consecutive overs when it could have potentially gone down to the wire, he took a single off the first ball to watch the tail struggle to get it off the square and then get out. Very inexperienced performance
