11:12pm

In case you've missed it, Saints have tonight announced a new signing.

You can find out about it here .

9:38pm

That's full time. Saints win 4-1 to make it to the third round

9:38pm

GOAL x 2...again! Stevenage 1 Saints 4

Michael Talassitis pulls one back before Ben Reeves drills home from 20 yards.

9:21pm

GOAL x 2! Stevenage 0 Saints 3

Disputed back pass gives Saints a free kick in the centre of the area. Puncheon takes it quickly and Sharp finishes.

Then Puncheon flicks the ball up and smashes home an incredible goal from 25 yards.

9:11pm

Sharp curls over the bar after good work from Lee and Puncheon.

Saints have been so much better this half.

8:58pm

GOAL - Stevenage 0 Saints 1

Much better showing in the second half from Saints and they get the lead on 53 minutes. Good work from Puncheon who finds Sharp down the right. His low cross converted by Lee

8:47pm

Second half about to get underway. Saints hoping for better than the first period.

8:24pm

Stevenage continue to boss this. Only a good block from Dan Seaborne stops Freeman from tapping home after Haber had outpaced Richardson to get in behind and get the ball across goal

8:12pm

Stevenage having the better of things for a period. Haber headed wide before Rogers' drilled low shot saw Gazzaniga dive down to his left to save it.

8:04pm

The game is fairly even. In fairness to Stevenage they get the ball and pass it about. You do feel that Saints have it in them to produce the quality to get some goals though.

7:57pm

Real scare for Saints as a Tansey free kick from just outside the area comes off the underside of the bar and bounces out

7:53pm

Sharp produced a great first time finish after a Ward-Prowse through ball but the flag was up for offside.

Otherwise it has been a bright start for Stevenage who are pressing Saints high up the pitch and are a big, strong, physical and determined side, even if they don't have the qualityt that Saints can boast.

7:45pm

Stevenage to kick off and get us underway in a few moments

Puddletown Saint says

Hmmm Should have more than enough for these Lets hope Shaw Lee and Sharp all play fantastic and stake a place for the first team

3-1 to the Saints

7:39pm

As a side note we could have extra time and penalties to decide this tie if required.

Let's hope not...

7:38pm

It's an important chance for a few of the Saints boys to stake a claim for a first team place.

There are also plenty of scouts in attendance at the Lamex Stadium for those whose futures may lay elsewhere with the transfer window closing on Friday.

7:36pm

Warm-ups over. The Saints squad have returned to the dressing room to get ready for action.

7:21pm

7:19pm

The pitch looks relatively dry but in immaculate condition. Saints will be in yellow.

7:19pm

Stevenage: Day, Gray, Charles, Ashton, Tansey, Dunne, Haber, Akins, Roberts, Freeman, Rogers.

Subs: Arnold, Grant, Furlonge, Ball, Thalassitis, N'Gala, Shroot.

7:18pm

Saints make 11 changes from the team that lost to Wigan in the league.

Saints: Gazzaniga, Butterfield, Richardson, Seaborne, Shaw, Chaplow, Ward-Prowse, Hammond, Puncheon, Sharp, Lee.

Subs: K Davis, Stephens, Chambers, Reeves, Moore, Hoskins, Sinclair.

Sounds like saints getting pressed in the opening. Will have to watch out, some of our team (especially in defense) are inexperienced and could get mugged here. Hopefully sharp and lee will sort out the nerves.

Listening at home from the Saints player and despite being at a less-than-incredible ground watching a less-than-incredible performance from the players seemingly, All i can hear is "Oh when the saints go marching in!" So proud of the fans for bringing it even if the players aren't at the time. Love it, COYR.

t to add i think that SFC should get the situation regarding the box office sorted.... shambolic & totally unprofessional, loyal fans queue for hours, some i heard were still waiting at 12.30..all because the box office apparently could not get more staff & didn't think that there would be a demand for tickets (Which is what i was told by the young blonde girl on the RHS window) Alot of people had to get to work and were very frustrated at waiting for hours......Not to mention the £3.00 for parking........MR Cortese- come on you are taking the pi** .I love the saints but i for one think that the club are starting to take advantage of our loyalty. Sorry for the rant but really cheesed off........Well played tonite though lads good win, roll on Sunday

It hasn't been reported how far over he was. But whatever your views on the amount over, I think a run in with the law and the fact that he was out in the small hours of the morning (I read 430 am somewhere) will likely annoy Adkins and nc. Since he's Nicola's baby, retribution from the big boss cold be merciless...

Ramirez the bolonga not in SN

The 21-year-old winger, who is also a target for Liverpool and Tottenham, had looked set for a shock move to newly promoted Southampton two weeks ago, after they agreed a £12 million fee with Serie A side Bologna.

However, the transfer collapsed at the last minute, because Uruguayan side Penarol, who own a portion of Ramirez's rights, refused to give up their share cheaply.

But following a round of talks over the weekend, Southampton have finally agreed to pay an extra £3 million for Ramirez, taking the final amount to £15 million - with 70% going to Bologna, and 30% to Penarol.

Ramirez's agent has since opened talks with Southampton over terms on a five-year-deal, while the player is currently in Rome trying to sort out a UK work permit.

WORK PERMIT , WORK PERMIT , WORK PERMIT , WORK PERMIT !

A good result regardless. But apart from providing a run out for squad players I do not think Cups will figure very high on the agenda this season. All effort on the 36 remaining games in the Premiership and getting to 40 points minimum.

Chaplow sounded very level headed about his role at the moment, but is it fair that some players are not getting on pitch time, we know the value of the Squad system but it must be frustrating not being picked.
