SECOND half goals from Dave Allen, Richard Gillespie and Jonathan Davies saw AFC Totton recover from a half-time deficit to win 3-1 at St Neots in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division.
The home side had the better of the opening exchanges causing problems for the Totton defence who had to clear their lines on three separate occasions.
Then, against the early run of play, Richard Gillespie was well tackled by Gavin Hoyte as the Stags striker pre pared to shoot from close range.
But two minutes later Totton fell behind when ex Aston Villa and QPR man Stefan Moore received the ball inside the area and shot through the legs of Gareth Barfoot.
Gillespie went close to levelling on 15 minutes but his shot was well saved by Saints keeper Michael Duggan as it headed for the top corner.
Barfoot was then twice called in to action as the half progressed, racing to the edge of his area to clear from the feet of Moore and Ben Mackey.
The Stags had an early let-off at the start of the second half when Lewis Hilliard scooped the ball over from two yards.
But on 48 minutes Allen found himself behind a static home defence and fired low into the corner for the equaliser.
Then with an hour gone Allen’s shot was saved by Duggen before Gillespie’s follow-up was parried into the net by the unfortunate keeper.
With St Neots pushing hard to level, the Totton defence were outstanding and with three minutes left the Stags secured the points when James Coutts cut the ball back for Davies to rifle home from 20 yards.
