Golden anniversary clubs Tottonians and London Cornish are heading for an exciting encounter tomorrow.

They are both celebrating their 50th birthdays this year and there was little to choose between them in London 2 South-West last season, with Cornish pipping Totts to fourth place.

Tottonians, who have home advantage tomorrow, kicked off their season with a convincing victory at Camberley a week ago.

London Cornish narrowly missed out at Portsmouth, who have just dropped down from London 1, and Totts’ coach Gavin Williams knows his side will be pushed all the way at Water Lane.

He said: “We are always faced with a stern test when playing Cornish and are expecting a much tougher battle than last week.

“The starting XV remains unchanged and we have been delighted by the form shown by all of the players.”

Totts’ experienced prop Tom Pearson has been sidelined by a serious injury but is on the bench tomorrow.

Mike Thomas also returns to the squad and will add pace and firepower to the backline.

“We are aiming to continue as we ended last week, on the front foot and playing attractive and exciting rugby,” added Williams.

“We are confident but very aware it will be a much tougher game.”
