Critics will make us stronger, says Puncheon

Critics will make us stronger, says Puncheon Critics will make us stronger, says Puncheon

Jason Puncheon is surprised some have written off Saints' survival chances already but thinks it could play into the south coast side's hands.

Saints have lost their first four matches back in the top flight, leading some to suggest that manager Nigel Adkins ' position is in jeopardy and relegation back to the Championship beckons.

Puncheon could not help but smile when told of such gloomy predictions and, rather than focus on the start to the season, was keen to focus on the positives heading into today's clash with Aston Villa.

''Being written off is always a good thing you know because we can use that,'' the 26-year-old said. ''We're always going to be the underdogs as people would say.

''If you're totally honest, if you look at the Man United and Man City games we didn't let them get in their stride.

''We held our own and the good thing is we can only better. We have got no points on the board, being 'rubbish' if everyone wants to say that.

''In football, there is always thin margins. People always say 'they could have done this', 'they could have done that' but now we have got to put things into action ourselves.

''We have a big game on Saturday and three points are needed.

''The season starts now so you take the positives from those games we've played into the game on Saturday.''

Cmon Saints as said before. The honest season starts today,Silly errors cost us against Wigan and being very naive against Manchester clubs cost us dearly. Arsenal last week was shocking but its in the past.Onwards and upwards, looking forward to seeing Yoshi and Gaston at St Marys this afternoon. If we approach the game correctly and i am sure Nigel has battered them in training this week we can get a result.

Is this the new upbeat positive Jason Puncheon.

Well long may that last.

I forgot he can only play in the Premier league, anything lower than that is not worth playing in.

Rant over!

What I have seen of him this season is better than anything before. That said, he is still a long way from being the final product.
What we want to see is what he does when he hasn,t got the ball.

No sulking, stay upbeat, defending when Clyne goes forward.Moving to make space to receive the ball.Keep this positivity going 90 mins.
He has everything to become a top player it's only been his self destructive nature that has held him back.
Lets get 3 points today.
Jason hatrick? WHO KNOWS?

Really excited to see Ramirez for a whole game. Line up today is really tricky for NA.
Mine would be

Davis
Clyne, Fonte, Yoshida, Fox
Puncheon,Sneid,Davis
, Lallana
Ramirez
Lambert
I would also think about extra energy in ward prowse in the 2nd half for Davis & rodriguez / chaplow/ for punch when tired

Cant drop Kelvin yet,Gazza has not be bloodied yet and we need to win today, Super K services have been fantastic and i really hope that he is not dropped like a hot potato, But the honest truth is that mistakes in this division cost goals and jesus christ we have shipped a few already this season.

Stopping stupid schoolboy errors, suicide passes, retaining pssession and not panicking everytime the opposition get to our area WILL make us stronger.

I think the world of our manager and would want him to stay even if we get relegated....

Despite the laudable positivity on the site as things stand we will be relegated because the mistakes that went unpunished last season are and will continue to be found out this season..

Even if our new signings are absolute diamonds I cannot see how they themselves can stop our defence being shredded...

The season we were relegated was hallmarked by conceding almost every game in the last 10 minutes....I see the exact same thing now....

I am commenting on the here and now not wishful thinking that the sun will come out tomorrow, I hope it does...l..

do we not have an official worrier in the ranks namely
" WORRIED OF N.E. HAMPSHIRE."
his dual purpose is to worry and also to support saints
so all rank and file supporters can carry on with supporting the saints and leave their worries to the official worrier.
my only worry is worried of n.e. hampshire could have too many worries on his shoulders and will need a little assistance

Anyone know a cure for people that shout, or don't know how to use the Caps Lock? Tad Lee is still recovering from last years broken toe, and SDeR has been struggling with a deep seated groin injury, but as always there is no real news coming out of the Club, they seem to think that keeping the fans in the dark about the Players welfare will somehow inhibit the oppositions decisions on how to cope with our side.

puppy i am 110% behind Nigel and i hope he is here for a very very long time. Those calling for his head after such a short time in this league are those that were missing over he last few seasons. Alarm set for 1.45am ready for 2am ko in NZ.. Hope for at least a point and a decent performance to the whistle. Paul Lambert is an astute manager and new manager syndrome has undone a few times on the way back to the prem..

Play to potential and I think we could see some sparks today with 3-0 win to Saints.

Who is up to start... doesn't really matter as the rotations and subs are all part of the war effort but expect 433 attacking play:

Will it be a Media spin out team:
Could not guess the starting team today but Nat Maya Jose Danny should be the back line.

Spider and Adam will be in the mid and Gaston will certainly start.

Of interest will be if Rickie starts or if Jay or Emmanuel get a run in the middle to try to latch on to Gaston's crisper paced Passes. Anything is possible and all of it positive.. I don't see non starts.as dropped as Nigel needs to weigh options and keep the opposition guessing.

the riddler was deployed best as an impact sub lat season. In his starts he was normally wasted -- he's more frightening to a tired left back than a fresh one.

He'll have his moments of glory this year, I'm sure.
